They are very clear in their listing that it takes 6 batteries to operate. That is 6 batteries per grinder meaning I had to break out 12 AAAs. I will update this with long term use. If the batteries need to be replaced frequently that is a no go from me. Again, will update later. They feel very nice in the hand and look very elegant. Not too big for the table. It's all plastic but I guess the motor is a lot of the weight. The containers themselves are a very crisp clear plastic. Seems very durable too. If you have kids be wary of the grinder getting tipped over and left unattended. There is no on/off switch, just gravity. It grinds my salt and pepper very nicely, quick and efficient. For the price they're very good. I wouldn't mind paying more for something with elevated materials or a better battery solution.

These powered spice grinders are a kitchenware advancement that people need...but do not know it.I have twisted my wrist off in the past grinding spices by hand with an old-style grinder. This set (tip: Yes, you need TWO!) delivers grinding power, relative ease of use and lights-up the area you are spicing.Note; I said 'relative ease of use', the design is a bit on the bulky side, with a taper at the ends and a larger center.(This may trouble smaller hands)I also find the gravity-trigger a bit unsettling...After you hit the 'on' button, the grinders turn on automatically when you tilt them. (It takes getting used to.)I subtract no stars over this, as it is not a flaw--as I stated; It just takes getting used to.The set is RECHARGEABLE, so these must be a newer model, as I see previous reviews that say they need batteries.Bottom Line: The best kitchenware gadget that you should not be without.

When we first got these I honestly couldn't figure out how to use them - and seriously, who reads directions...I probably threw them away. I was definitely making it harder than it needed to be since all you need to do is turn them over and they start grinding away. They appear sleek and have a gorgeous blue light on the top so you can see how fast it's dispensing product. I'd definitely recommend these, and would order again.

I'm a big fan of rechargeable salt & pepper grinders. The idea is simply too good to ever go back to manual grinders. With that said, there are different features that make some sets better than others. This set lacks some of those features. Most importantly, it has no base, meaning you must charge each unit separately. (The bases also help keep the counter clean and are easier to carry.) These grinders are usually push-button or gravity-operated. Oddly, this set requires that you both push a button and turn it upside down. It also has a strange blue light ring that glows when dispensing the spice. Over, this is not my favorite set.

The salt and pepper grinders are attractive and seem to work as intended. Upon arrival they were charged enough to check them out. Instructions say to only use for salt and pepper and that's exactly what I ordered them for. They work seamlessly with no issues so far. The reason for the 4 stars is the lack of a charging cable. The box shows it, the instructions say it is included but it wasn't in the box. Also it is made of plastic. I would prefer at least the jar be glass. So far it seems to function as it should.

Currently using these for cardamom and clove as well as for salt and pepper. These grinders are very handy for cooking as you can adjust spice levels quickly and minimize distraction. I report their use for cardamom and clove as I use these spices very heavily in the dishes I cook. The grinder dedicated to cardamom works reliably. I set a fairly fine grind and then the grinder turns on when I invert it. Result is fine cardamom powder exactly like I want. The grinder dedicated to clove is less reliable, but that is simply because the cloves are a very tough grind. You just have to make sure that the batteries in the grinder are fairly fresh and that you do not set the grinder to too fine a grind, else it jams. Unjamming the grinder is fairly straightforward in unscrewing the burr dusting off the burr faces and reassembling the grinder -- it just takes a few moments. Otherwise, the grinding of the clove goes very well and you can produce a good amount of course-ground clove in short order. Note that if you want to produce fine clove powder, this grinder will simply not do that (it is not designed for it anyway, so that is not a ding against it - just reporting my results -- FYI, I have fantastic results in producing finely ground clove with manual grinders).I use a second set of these Kiaryuoll gravity grinders for black pepper (black peppercorns) and for salt (Himalayan pink salt crystals). I have both set to a very fine grind and these grinders make quick work of the job. Finally, these grinders take AAA batteries and I find that the batteries last a very long time, so maintenance on them is very low.
