This is a great product! I used it for 10 days in Mexico. I easily filtered tap water, avoided travelers diarrhea, and didn’t have to buy & throw away a hundred plastic bottles. Other reviewers said it was hard to push down. Granted, I was not filtering swamp water, but over 10 days of use refilling water bottles for multiple people, multiple times per day, I never had any trouble pressing the water through the filter. Other reviewers also mentioned it overflowing. Yup, it will do that if you fill it above the fill line! This was a perfect size for carrying in my fanny pack. I even like the color!

I took this on a trip out of the country. I was unsure on the availability of clean water and wanted this as security. . I used it when the water didn’t smell good or was cloudy. Worked well and I was able to share clean water with my family. Easy to use and affordable.

I am on my second Ultrapress. My first one lasted about a year and a half and in that time I went through about 3 filter replacements for itWhat I love about this smaller model is it holds 16oz of water, which is a very convenient amount for filling other vessels, like canteens and bottles that are 1 Quart, as it just takes 2 pumps to fill it, with nothing left over. With the Geopress, it would still take 2 pumps. but you would have some amount of water sitting around inside the pump with nowhere to go, since it's 24oz, a somewhat awkward amount.The reason I suspect my first one failed was because the rubber seal around the outside of the fill tank wore down to the point that water from outside cup part during pumping would get past seal and started contaminating the water in the tank. I can't exactly explain how this would be the case, but the reason I believe this is because pumping with my first Ultrapress compared to this new one has almost no resistance, and water starts leaking out of the sides when pumping with the old one, where with the new one the seal is super tight, and no water comes out during pumpingNot sure how this could be fixed in a revised design, perhaps some sort of replaceable rubber seal on the fill tank? I don't claim to be an engineer, but it would be nice if there was some way to design around this one small flaw, to extend the lifetime of these potentially life saving devices.Other than that, it does a great job filtering everything out of water, including bad tastes, my stomach is rather sensitive to algae tastes that even come up in some bottled water, and this pump deals with that no problem.

Bought this for my African Safari. I was nervous about the water in our camps, so better to be safe than sorry! These were easy to use (with a little muscle) and I felt safe drinking the water. You have to press pretty hard on the insert to create the filter - but seems to work great. I am not sure I actually needed these - but they were nice to have.

While I wait for a replacement, I have to question the quality of a company that sends a detached, clearly used water bottle out to a customer that just dropped over $90 dollars? Hopeful Grayl gets it right this time and it’s simply a horrendous error, but from a customer perspective, I can’t imagine the sanitary issues that go with recycling unclean, used water bottles to the public.

Bought for multi peak hikes in the Mourne Mountains where we have plenty of fresh water sources to top up. Lightens the load when out on summer day hikes and gives us that peace of mind that we won't run out of water or get sick from drinking fresh mountain water. Love the colours choices. Bought one for my husband and one for myself.

tl;dr: klein, handlich, viel Kraft zum pressen notwendig, funktioniert einwandfrei - klare Kaufempfehlung [+].In dem Paket befand sich, wie zu erwarten, nur die Filterflasche.Ich habe mir vor ein paar Monaten bereits den großen Bruder dieser Filterflasche gekauft und war so begeistert von ihm, dass ich mich dazu entschlossen habe, eine zweite, jedoch kleinere Version zu bestellen.Der Umfang dieser Variante ähnelt einer normalen 1/1,5L Wasserflasche wie man sie aus dem Supermarkt gewohnt ist - deswegen lässt sie sich auch einfach in der Seitentasche eines Rucksacks verstauen was bei der Größeren Version nicht so einfach möglich ist.Die Funktionsweise ist sehr einfach: Die Hülle mit Wasser füllen, den Filereinsatz in die Hülle pressen, gefiltertes Wasser trinken. Ich empfehle, da der Vorgang etwas Kraft benötigt, die Flasche auf einen festen Untergrund zu stellen und den Filter mit deinen Händen und durch Einsatz des Körpergewichts in die Hülle zu drücken.Bis jetzt habe ich aus einigen Flüssen, Bächen und Seen getrunken ohne am nächsten Tag unter Bauchschmerzen oder ähnlichen zu leiden - funktioniert also einwandfrei.Qualitativ mach die Filterflasche, gleich wie ihr großer Bruder, einen hochwertigen Eindruck. Definitiv ein Produkt das einige Campingausflüge und Wanderungen überleben kann.Von mir gibt es eine klare Kaufempfehlung [+].

Long review but I get into details on why you need to buy one of these. Please read on.I’ve had a grayl since the kickstarter days. I love these things for travel all over the globe but I didn’t grab mine when I came to Dubai a couple years ago because a friend needed to “borrow†it for a trip to Africa. Well after getting here and setting up my home filtration system of a Sawyer filter to a Zero Water filter (for bacteria and microbes and then heavy metal’s / solids) I decided I needed something for on the go and set my sights back to the grayl. It gets me better water, cheaper.For those that aren’t into water filtration allow me to explain. The tap water in Dubai by testing is actually drinkable, however the construction of the buildings from what I’ve seen has lead to varying amounts of metallic compounds to be in the water here. This coupled with pipes being in old buildings possibly being covered in gunk that allows bacteria to breed is what causes the majority of water related illnesses. To prevent this two types of filtration needs to occur, bacterial / viral and then heavy metal’s and other solid contaminants. The grayl does both of this in a portable bottle, getting that combination in a household setup requires 2 separate filters in a gravity system.Now you may ask why I went through all of this when I could just buy bottled water. Well this is where math comes into play. For the grayl ultra press I can make 150l of water or 300 bottles at 500ml. If I go downstairs it’s between 1 AED to 1.50 AED for a single 500ml bottle. Buying the grayl and using it until the filter is completely gone is the es cat same price as buying the 300 bottles at 1 AED per bottle, it saves 150 AED if I pay 1.50AED per bottle. Now if I decide to go to one of the theme parks, water parks, or staycation on the palm where 500ml bottles of water are 10-20 AED I get my return in as fast as 30 refills at 10 AED per bottle. Additionally the replacement cartridges are around 100 AED per cartridge which means that the same 300 bottles at 1 AED now averages 200 AED in savings.It also massively reduces single use plastic going into the environment. Being able to fill up at any sink in the UAE also never puts me out of reach of water when I need it. I know this has been a long review so I thank you for hanging tough and finishing my breakdown. Hopefully someone can translate it to Arabic.
