Purchased this little workhorse of a water pump for some flooding in my backyard and back patio. After a few days of having to bail water into a bin and then dumping it into the street, I was really in need of this pump. When it arrived it was very easy to set up. The extra long power cord really helped in not having to use an extension cord and water proof the connection. The flow port and attachment made it easy to accommodate several hose sizes. It pumps water out to a very low level on a flat surface and handles very small debris with ease without clogging. It is very sturdy and well-built for its intended purpose. Upon setting it up for the next rainstorms I found that the auto sensor switch was not functioning. It worked great in manual mode and did its job, but I did not want to spend my night manually switching it on and off every hour or so. I reached out to Tornado Tools customer service thru Amazon messaging and I received a response right away with some suggestions. Customer service was very keen to work out this problem together with me. Finally, it was discovered that a light grease is added to protect the contacts and so it was suggested that I thoroughly brush and clean the contacts. I used a de-greaser and that did the trick. It functions flawlessly in auto mode now. Great customer service if you work together, Great product and now I sleep at ease through any rain.

Our patio floods. Like all points of the roof drain to the back patio type floods. And the rain water quickly comes up the pavers and dangerously close to the sliding glass door. And during hurricanes - or even a heavy Florida Tuesday afternoon storm - that water comes up quick! We bought two of these - one has a hose feeding into the pool and the other is in the pool leading outside. Don’t judge - the process works! 😂These darn things work AMAZING.We have found that the automatic sensor isn’t very reliable though - as others have mentioned. We did what everyone has offered up and it will work if I place it in a bowl of water as a test, but during the actual storm, it won’t work. Very odd. So instead, we have the remote control plugs (that are used for Christmas decorations) and simply turn it on when it is needed. Great little work around.Great value for the money on these things. Very little noise too. Such a great purchase!

Works great, placed in the swimming pool to keep the water circulating during freezing weather after draining the pool equipment. It moves a lot of water around in the pool!

Needed a sump pump to remove standing rain water down as low as possible. A standard float would not take the level as low as this pump is advertised to do. I liked the electronic sensor operation as you could place the sensor on the ground. In testing it worked perfectly from my hose water. BUT.... when it rained, the sensor just did not sense the rain water. Apparently rain water isn't all that conductive. I modified the sensor by adding more surface area to the metal sensors and the rain water was sensed properly. We have had major rain here for a week and the pump worked perfectly. It was cycling a lot because of the area I was removing water from and would indeed take it to ground level. It was like the energizer bunny and just kept on going. Exactly what I needed. This is a revision to my original negative post. I mentioned in that post that I could not contact the manufacturer. Apparently they saw my post and contacted me offering a full refund. I can now say they have good customer support if you can get in touch with them.

I needed a pump to remove rain water off of my concrete patio next to the house. 3 to 4 inches of water along the foundation causes seepage of water into the basement. I normally have to keep sweeping the water away from the house. A lot of work and I get soaked in the rain. This small pump clears the water and does so on its own when in the automatic mode ( sensor rests on the concrete and turns the pump on when there is 1/5th of an inch of water and turns it off when the water level is 1/5th of an inch ao below. No motor burn out when the water is gone!! I do not anticipate using the pump in manual mode since you have to turn it off when the water is gone. I am using a 3/4 inch rubber hose to discharge the water. It handles the water amount I have. It is 50 ft long but seems to work just fine even though they recommend short hoses. Finding an 1 inch garden hose is not easy. I assume that if you were emptying a pool or hot tub the larger hose of short length would be better. A great price for a useful sump pump that works on a flat surface with water.

I live in Florida, so I bought this sump pump in 2019 to drain my pool level down during hurricanes. As I am writing this hurricane Milton is raging outside. I have exactly connected it to my hose exactly two times. Once when I received it and practiced setting it up (I did not put it in water) and connected it to my hose and early today to drain water from my pool with Milton's rain deluge upon my house. The pump worked great and did everything it was supposed to do, well, its 12:56 am right now and my pool is overflowing and I wanted to drain it again. Now here is the problem:THE CHEAPLY MADE PLASTIC CONNECTOR THAT MY HOSE WOULD GO ON IS STRIPPED AND WILL NOT CONNECT TO THE PUMP!!! The whole sump pump is useless! If I could get to my trashcan, I would take a hammer to it and throw it out. Before anyone thinks it's my water hose. It's just a regular water hose I bought from Sam's club that NOTHING else has any trouble connecting to it, and I did not pull the pump up by the hose I tied a rope around the handle to move it up. Great my pool just overflowed its sides.

We used this to remove a lot of water on top of our pool cover. As soon as it was in the water and plugged in the water came out as fast as it does in our summer hoses.
