A traditional clay bar has only one leading edge to remove contaminants on initial contact. It's blunt. The diamond pattern found in smooth finish synthetic clay's clay/polymer matrix creates more edges and more opportunities to remove stubborn contaminants. The comfortable foam palm pad creates less hand fatigue and is much more maneuverable than clay bars, a win-win for detail-minded enthusiasts everywhere.

Let me first say that I have been auto detailing for 27 years and I have seen products come and go. Some good and some bad. One thing that I always hated was the "claying part" for many reasons. Clay is too hard, clay is too soft out of the package when you get it. Plus, if you drop the clay you are using on the ground, you need to throw it away and get a new bar to use so you dont risk scratching the panel you are working on.You can forget about all those things I just mentioned! Griots listened and solved all those problems. A synthetic piece of clay, that when it becomes dirty from working the panel or you drop it on the ground by accident, you can just rinse it off and go back to your work without any worries about scratching the paint on the panel! Sounds GREAT, but does it truly work?Yes it does! It might be slightly pricey ($20 ish) but it does exactly what Griot's claims! Not only can you just rinse it off if it becomes dirty or falls on the ground, they claim it can do around 20-25 cars. I have used it on 3 full cars so far with excellent results! It is easier to use than regular detailing clay and in my opinion, it works better as it does not take as long to do a full car. I will update this review once I get to do 20-25 cars and see if it follows through with Griot's claims! The only negative one might say is that it is pricier than regular car clay and some people will be turned off due to the price. Do NOT let that part fool you. I dropped the clay on the ground several times while doing some weekend detailing and claying and just washed it off and went back to work! Normally you would have to throw conventional clay in the trash so you dont risk scratching. NOT this clay! It also cuts down on time as it is easier to use and you still get the results you would expect. What a GREAT product. $20ish spent on it and the results are much higher than even I expected. Totally worth the money.Next time you need to clay a car, strongly consider buying this particular product and come back to this review and give me your take on this new type of claying!(In NO way was I given this product for free, I paid the retail price and NO I am not affiliated in any way with Griot's) Griot's can send me a few of these if they want now if they have someone reviewing posts here on Amazon. LOL) My only "wait and see" for this product is if it really does do 20-25 cars.I wont hold my breath on that one though! But back to topic....I would give this 6 stars if I was able to! I literally NEVER write reviews of products I buy on Amazon, whether good or bad the item is. So this synthetic clay by Griot's is truly some "next level" type of claying that is extremely effective.

I thought it was a bit expensive but it does work amazing. Saves a lot of work in the long run. I purchased the manual clay bars and it's a lot harder with those. And this works even better I believe. I highly recommend it. At any price it's a savings of time. LOL

Easiest claybar I've ever used and works so well! Used before doing a all in one polish correction.

Works well for paint correction on a repeat. If it’s an older car and it’s the first time I’ve done a full paint correction-regular detailing clay is better and leaves a brighter and smoother finish. This is much quicker and easier to use though.

I used this from time to time after I wash and I see a spot that I otherwise would use a clay bar to remove. I can grab this and quickly remove some tar or bug with it.

I like the synthetic clay bar. Easy to hold onto, does a nice job on the paint and if you drop it you can clean it off and continue using. I use it with Griot’s spray detailer (another fine product). Together they smoothed the paint finish. Finished with a coat of wax. Car looks great.

Bucket of soapy water and a little time and your paint will be buttery smooth.Well worth the money and easier than actual clay bars. Don't worry about dropping this one either. A good rinse and you are back in the game.

Had to deal with an entire car covered bumper to bumper in 2 pack white paint over spray. Managed to completely remove every last speck of over spray in record time and the pad still looks brand new.The entire process was a thousand times faster and easier vs a clay bar for two reasons:1. No folding, no cleaning, no fear of dropping the claybar and ruining it. Every few minutes i'd simply dunk the pad into a bucket of water to clean off any build up.2. The pad itself is very ergonomic and comfortable to hold. Usually after claybarring for several minutes my fingers start to cramp up and I have to swap hands, but Griot's synthetic clay pad was extremely comfortable and easy to grip.My only complaint was trying to wedge the pad into tighter areas -- the pad itself is quite large and thick which makes it difficult to get into hard to reach locations such as the front grille, or between glass and body panels, but in those situations weren't a deal breaker. This is definitely a product I will keep in my repertoire for future use.

Synthetic clay works as well or better than a clean clay bar. No longer have to worry about particles lodged in the clay, or dropping it on the ground. Works awesome with a spray bottle or a bucket of clean soapy water. Far cheaper than clay in the long run and it doesn't harden to a rock after 6 months on the shelf. For pro or amateur detailers, this is the only real option out there. Still working well after detailing a mid sized car and full sized pick up.
