Very easy to install. Brought the water pressure up and kept it with most fixtures on in the house.

EDIT: 8/21/24: after emailing multiple times, leaving countless voicemails, contacting their overseas office, and writing on them twitter NOTHING has been responded to by this company. there is absolutely no way I would buy another pump from them. Buyer beware on what you're getting here - it works great until it doesn't and then they will absolutely ignore you afterwards. I can't understand why this pump is still being sold after the recall.EDIT 2/12/21: the review below was written when I first had the pump... after a little over two years the pump stopped working with the same symptoms seen in multiple reviews here: a grinding coming from the crankshaft and rusty water leaking out. I have written the company to see if they're willing to do anything about it. From what I can find, this pump was part of a recall and the recall was only told to distributors and not to actual customers... pretty shady and, weirdly seeming out of character from what I've known about Grundfos in the past. As far as the PUMP goes, when it works, it works exceedingly well... however, keeping a recall notice private and, per the recall instructions "not helping customers if they're past warranty" is super shady and Grundfos needs to be called out on it. I have contacted the company to see if they will at least assist in some credit towards a replacement. I will update here if/when I get a reply back. This is, by far, the best thing I've bought for my house in the past two years... we installed it (on to our city water line, it's not just for wells) and flow rate went from 2.2 GPM to 7 GPM and it's constant anywhere in the house. I had it running and, standing right next to it, I could not hear it doing anything... my engineer buddy who suggested it is getting a nice Christmas present this year.

The Grundfos Scala 2 is simply amazing. My house is connected to city (main) water and the waterr pressure just after the water meter at my house was 36 psi. With the Scala 2 installed, I have it set to 68 psi. The pump has had an enormous positive impact, from making it possible to water my lawn and wash my cars to even just having a good shower!I can attest that the pump is very quiet while it is running. The comments about it being about as loud as a dishwasher are accurate. Keep in mind that the more load on the pump, the louder it will be, but I haven't heard it louder than my dishwasher. The instructions say to mount the pump with anchors and a rubber isolation pad under it for vibration control, but so far I think that is unnecessary if you install the pump correctly (on a level surface). The threads on the inlet and outlet are 1in NPT. That isn't listed anywhere in the literature or online. You'll need that information when shopping for the adapters to connect it to your plumbing.

I live in Hawaii and we have catchment water. All of my neighbors use pressure tank systems. We have a rise from the pump shed to the house of about 14.' With our previous pressure tank system I could not achieve a variable ~32-45 psi (depending on the pressure tank). I replaced it with an MQ3-45 and that boosted our pressure significantly but the pump failed after about 8 years (our second MQ3-45 failure in another location--the first failed after 4 years). I noticed a leak from the rear seal, a frequently reported problem. I bought a repair kit but when I opened the pump I found the failure was much more extensive than the seal. The pressure chamber had self-destructed. I already invested $150 in the repair kit and was looking at about $300 to replace the pressure chamber, and decided instead of possibly throwing good money after bad (and at half the price), I would replace it with the Scala and hope its the longevity is better than the MQ3-45.Replacing the MQ3-45 was easy peasy. I bought a couple of 1" flexible hoses, like Grundfos recommends, and it took about an hour to patch it in, without needing to modify the existing plumbing which is quite complex with 3x20" filters and a UV. It started right up and produced 45psi at the medium pressure setting. You can run these at higher pressures with the variable pressure setting but I understand it foreshortens the pump's life. It operates a bit quieter than the MQ3-45.The pump does not come with an instruction book, instead, it has a confusing visual installation guide which I could not make heads or tails of and seemed to contradict other, simpler written and video instructions I found online. Grundfos has excellent video tutorials on YouTube. You can download a full installation manual. Startup involves priming the pump and bleeding the air from the system. I forgot to open the inlet valve and the pump promptly shut down with a fault indication that clearly showed the problem. It seems to me that the Scala has a significantly more sophisticated and useful control panel.I am unimpressed with Grundfos' support. I email communicated with a Grundfos rep about the MQ3-45's problems. He assumed the pump ingested something causing the failure (it didn't because I have a commercial-grade filter at the inlet). Then he discouraged me from trying to repair it using a scare tactic about parts availability (I checked and parts are widely available). Of course, tried to upsell me to a Scala. Reports of poor support are abundant on the web.The Grundfos claimed life expectancy for the MQ3-45 is 10-15 years. I got a total of 12 years out of 2 of them. I am hoping to have better reliability with the Scala. Only time will tell. To be clear, I am very pleased with the performance, less so with the reliability of these expensive constant-pressure pumps.

Bought this new pump, my plumber installed it worked for 2 days with no issues and on the third day it started oscillating and couldn’t be turned off with the switch. Had to unplug to stop, contacted seller directed, me to contact manufacturer, wanted to have it replaced. Don’t buy this pump since there’s no warranty.
