About this item

  • The Model-A cage works as a base cage for guinea pigs, bunnies, rabbits, quails, hedgehogs and other small animals in need of roaming space. All models can be expanded by purchasing additional cages or parts, which can be combined with the existing cage to create a larger, unified structure. Acrylic accessories on display are NOT included.
  • Click the “Visit the GuineaLoft Store” link under the product title on this page to visit our Amazon store, where you’ll discover our unique lines of products categorized by animals, and explore DIY options for making a dream habitat. If you haven’t checked out our Amazon store yet, you're missing out on a lot.
  • BEAUTIFUL - It's the most beautiful cage because it's pristine and well-made. Resembling a modern loft with an all-around unobstructed view, it stands in stark contrast to wire grid cages that evoke a prison-like feel. To complement the beauty of this cage, we also created a set of acrylic accessories that are beautiful, innovative, and fun! Check them out in our Amazon store.
  • NO MESS AROUND THE CAGE – Our acrylic walls prevent bedding from being kicked out, keeping the area around the cage clean and tidy. In contrast, wire grid cages may look clean on a product page, but in reality, the gaps between the wires can't block anything. This means dirty bedding gets kicked out every day, leading to a constant mess around the cage that requires daily cleaning—something most new users won't anticipate but seasoned users know all too well.
  • NO PAIN IN WEEKLY CLEANING – We are the original inventor of the disposable bottom system, designed to eliminate the pain of weekly cage cleaning. With our innovation, cleaning is now a breeze: 1. Remove the frame. 2. Fold up the old bottom. 3. Insert a new one. In contrast, with traditional cages, you're stuck scooping, scraping, and scrubbing a soiled, smelly bottom every single week! Cage cleaning is the single biggest burden that seasoned pet owners dread, but new owners might not realize just how brutal it can be.
  • SPACIOUS & DIY – Small animals like guinea pigs, rabbits, and quails need room to roam, and our cage delivers! Standing at 4 ft long and 2 ft wide, it provides 8 square feet of space, making it the largest size available on Amazon. For even more space, visit the GuineaLoft Amazon Store and check out the large DIY habitats designed for each animal.
  • OPTIONAL CLEAR LID – We offer an acrylic lid to close off the top while still providing an unobstructed view of your pets. In contrast, with a traditional wire grid lid, you can barely see your pets from the top. We recommend starting with our base model and purchasing a lid only if needed. Most guinea pigs don’t require a lid, but bunnies and quails may need one. All small pets need a lid if there are dogs or cats in the house.
  • FREE OPTIONAL BOTTOMS – Included with your purchase are 2 free disposable bottoms and 2 free disposable mats, enough to last approximately 2 weeks. Additional supplies can be purchased from our Amazon store, but they are optional. You can use your own liners and bottoms. We also offer a reusable tarp bottom product as an additional choice.
  • NO SILLY RE-ASSEMBLY – Our cage is tightly fastened with high-quality steel brackets and screws. Whether you move, lift, or drop it, the cage stays intact and never needs reassembly. In contrast, most iron grid cages are held together with flimsy push-in connectors and Velcro straps, forcing you to disassemble and reassemble them every single week just to clean them — yet another silly chore that seasoned pet owners know all too well.

I'm a long-time pig owner and have tried a lot of cages over the years (C&C, midwest, custom etc). I wanted to wait a few weeks of trying the GuineaLoft out before reviewing, and I've gotta say I LOVE this cage!ROOMY & MODULER:Great size for a pair of pigs. The walls are straight up so you get every inch of the 2x4' size. I'll be getting a second one soon-- it would be easy to attach a pair of them, and I just saw that official connector hardware is coming out too. I like that this is an evolving product really designed to meet the needs of pigs and those who love them.SHORT, CLEAR WALLS:The acrylic walls are crystal clear with little slots on the upper halves for pigs to lean on for the very important task of begging for treats. The walls are 10" tall which I find to be tall enough that they can't jump out (and I do have a jumper) and low enough that it's still easy for my 5'3" self to reach in and play with them/clean even with the cage 3' off the ground.I absolutely love that I can see the girls going about their little business with no coroplast in the way. It's like a whole new view into their lives. Anecdotally, this also seems to work in reverse-- I have two pigs who are extremely shy, and I honestly think they've been a bit less jumpy being in here, possibly because they can see me coming.EASY TO CLEAN:A proprietary liner system gave me pause when considering this purchase, but honestly I love it, and it will work with your preferred bedding. The cage liner has two parts-- the mat, which goes under everything to catch spills, and the cage bottom, which is the waterproof part that the pigs and their mess come in contact with. I've used the same mat for almost 3 weeks, because NOTHING gets past the disposable bottom! You could probably go without it, but it does catch mess from taking pigs out, adding hay, etc. You won't NEED to replace this often, but you can also toss it to make for even easier cleanup. As for the cage bottoms, they are great-- it even handled the mess of 4 pigs for a few days without any leakage, puddles, or smell. I have physical constraints that make fabric liner maintenance tough for me, so I love that I can use shavings, roll it up and toss it; to me, the cost of the replacements is worth it for the ease and accessibility. That said, there's no reason this wouldn't work with your preferred fleece or bath mat setup, which would further extend the life of the cage bottom. I found I've had to use less bedding, which has offset the cost of liners a bit. You could probably clean and reuse the cage bottoms a few times due to the waterproofing. The cage came with some wet wipes, but a damp cloth will get the walls perfectly clean with almost no effort. Not sure how this will play out in the long term with micro-scratches from normal daily wear and tear (which happens to any cage), but so far so good.AFFORDABLE:Amazing price for a cage of this size. There is the recurring cost of the liners, but as mentioned above, you can mitigate these costs if money is an issue.LOOKS GREAT:No shade to C&C cages, but personally I've always really disliked how they look, and they're not even the "ugliest" of the appropriately sized cages. Obviously making sure the piggies have a proper home is Priority #1, so I've just "dealt" with having cages I find to be an eyesore-- no more! I'm thrilled to have something that is good for my girls and also looks nice in my home. I'll be replacing my second cage with another GuineaLoft soon.CONSIDERATIONS:The cage feels sturdy for what it is (a thin acrylic frame with no bracing back/bottom) and the included hardware is obviously good quality, but I still have concerns about breakage over the long term, since the cage does flex dangerously when I move it to clean. This might be an issue of my technique. The cage system doesn't currently have options for storage/stands, so if you'll need your own stand if you'd like to have the cage off the ground. It also has no loft/second floor option at present.TLDR/CONCLUSION:A fantastic pig enclosure! I'm so glad I found this and took the chance on it, and I absolutely recommend it.

This is a really great guinea pig enclosure! It looks really high end, and is a breeze to clean. The disposable mat really does a fantastic job, I've had zero leakage (I swap mine out every weekend), and it keeps about 95% of the bedding contained, with just the occasional bits of paper being flung over the sides. Assembling was easy if a bit time consuming, took me about 30 minutes. This setup works really, really well for families with kids who may struggle with more traditional enclosures that have latches, I really love the easy access. This would not be a great solution for a family with cats or other pets who might have the potential to harm your guinea pigs, since it is totally open on top and has very shallow sides. I did struggle a little initially with finding the right accessories for this, since most are designed for wire cages, but this has a lot of well-placed cutouts and I've found that with a little trial and error you can pick out well-fitting water bottles, hammocks, mangers, etc.

The package insert says that designers are guinea pig owners too, and after putting it together, I believe it. It was very carefully and thoughtfully packaged, some of the nicest packaging I’ve ever seen. They even reused little acrylic circles that are punched out of the panel design, as a little tool you can use to scrape off the plastic film that protects the acrylic panels. It totally worked! My 12 year old son put most of it together with almost no help for me. The directions were very simple and easy to understand, and the construction is intuitive. I had my doubts about the thin waterproof paper tray that it sits on, which is disposable. I thought it would leak. But after four days of two guinea pigs in there, it has not leaked. I recommend adding some old cloth rags or shredded paper bedding to their fave sleeping area, just for comfort. I also put a folded up paper bag in the corner they like to pee in the most, and then I just roll it up and throw it away. And, like I said, even though the bag was pee-soaked after four days, the waterproof paper tray underneath was unblemished. I’m going to order more for when I get scruffy of course, but I might not even have to replace it as often as once a week. It is SO much easier than cleaning my old CNC cage with a big fabric quilted GuineaDad pad that needed to be laundered and that my washer would refuse to spin half the time because it was so heavy! Besides the cleaning factor, the cage is beautiful and attractive, with a whimsical design, just the right height, and we can see the pigs and the pigs can see us. My pigs drink out of a heavy stoneware bowl, so I don’t need to worry about attaching a water bottle to the acrylic panels, which I read can be tricky. Altogether a great purchase, worth the cash, and I’m so glad I found it!

I really like the cage and the concept for guinea pigs. My only complaint is that the holes on the sides are not functionally sized to hang a food dish and a water bottle although we did figure out how to make that work. You can only really hang a hay basket off the top too. Doesn’t fit anyplace else. Definitely requires some planning. What I like is that the bottom is disposable and it’s easy to clean. It has been water proof for us. I use fleece over the top of it and my pigs don’t mess with it at all. Overall we are pleased with our purchase. Also note that the metal you put it together with goes on the inside. I would have preferred the outside. Not sure how well it will do overtime with cleaning and such. Cage is a little floppy when it’s put together and you pick it up to move it but it’s not hard to move and not overly heavy.
