This is a nice little winder. I have several different styles and this one is one that I prefer because of the separate bridge pin puller. I can see the puller as I place it under the pin for good engagement.Overall, this is built like many other units of similar design. It works and is durable enough to do the job. The plastic components help prevent marring your instrument. Overall it seems to be a good value.

Importantly, the knobs on the tuning machines of an electric bass do NOT fit in the cup on this string winder. So, if you’re looking for a winder to use with a bass, look elsewhere. There’s a similar product made by D'Addario which specifically states it works on basses. That product is available for not much more $$ than this one right here on Amazon. On the other hand, if you’re only going to use this item with an acoustic or electric guitar, this will do the job and save you about $6.00 as of 2/23/2025. I tried the cutter and it had no trouble slicing through an acoustic guitar’s A-string. Why that string you ask ... it was the thickest string I had available that I could afford to cut. That said, I’m confident it would work equally well on the low E-string. In summary, if you only plan to use this winder with an electric or acoustic guitar, it will do the job and save you a few bucks. But, if there’s any possibility you’ll want to restring an electric bass, don’t bother with this item. In fact, since I also play bass, I just ordered the D’Addario winder here on Amazon and I’ll keep this item in gig bag with my electric guitar. Finally, if for some reason it doesn’t work on my bass, I’ll be sure to update this review.

This is the one indispensible tool for a guitarist, whether you play an acoustic or an electric. It has a string winder, a piece to help pull the pins from an acoustic guitar and clippers for the end of strings or the balls on the other end if you have a locking tremolo. I've had plenty o' stringwinders in the past but never have had 1 that has the built-in clippers, so this was convenient. Also has bridge pin puller. Gotta have in the gig bag. Recommended for the gigging guitarist.

This is a great addition to your guitar tools. This assists with string changes and makes them way easier and faster. I’ve seen similar tools that cost twice the cost of this. This one is very affordable and works just as well as more pricey options. It has a string cutting clipper, a turn key string winder, and an acoustic bridge pin puller. All work as they should and as expected.
