I bought a 1976 TroyBilt tiller and the reverse disc was worn to the point that it no longer engaged with the pulley. After installing the new reverse disc it works great. It did smoke a little when I first engaged the new disc, but it’s all good. Given the price, I bought a 2nd one as backup.

Perfect fit, time will tell, with all the stories about failed reverse wheels I am beginning to wonder if people know that you lift the tiller handlebars up so tines are not making contact with the ground and then engage reverse - you simply use reverse gear for backing up only not for tilling backwards!

This may as well be a genuine Troy-Bilt product, but they don't make those anymore. So this is what you want! Replacing this and the drive belts may seem intimidating at first, but there's plenty of videos on YouTube that show you exactly how to do it. It's easy and quick!

I own the older Horse model, made by Troybilt, not the newer version made by garden way. It is a direct replacement part. Simply bolt it on. No more struggling with lifting up the tines to turn it around.
