I have been working to get a BSC for my garage lab setup, but the cost to get one used is just too much (even considering the cost of this filter alone), so I turned to the DIY options. While you can get the vendor’s recommended hood that this HEPA filter is designed to fit, the sizing is also standard for most double-wide laminar hoods (rear-filter style) and can work in my case for circulating overhead BSC setups as well. I ended up converting a sterile static air glovebox into a BSC using this filter and a generic squirrel cage blower fan. Airflow seems normal (dimensions aside for proper distancing) and so far I have been working contamination-free in my makeshift BSC (keeping good sterile technique, of course). Overall, this filter is pricey, but it is true to specs for being HEPA and providing a sterile hood environment.

What a joke! Excited to finally get a flow hood and corners are damaged, rivets missing or broken. Corners riveted but not secured to actual FFU. Bent pleats on the inside of the filter. But the real kicker is how I’m the world do you attach the filter to the unit…orange tie down straps…really? No clips like a real actual flow hood should have?? Don’t wast your money get the other one that has clips

This is a great quality filter unit. The frame is made of aluminum The size is huge, almost two feet high and 4 feet wide. There is plenty of space for use in my my oyster mushroom growing hobby as well as working with screen protectors (no dust under the protector!)It does not come with a housing so you will only this if you already have a housing to change your filter out, or if you wish to build your own housing. If you are a little handy with tools, building your own housing from plywood will save you a very large amount of money and produce a flow hood that is as good as the best out there.I recommend this filter!

This HEPA air filter is an excellent product. It sets up quick. They didn't package it as clean or sterile as you'd think. You'd think that the exhaust side of the sterile filter should have had better sealed during shipping.I'm not using it for growing mushrooms, but rather for mixing ink that goes into printers so even micrometer size particles will clog print heads. But overall, the price is pretty great. I'm a big fan and the replacement filters are not expensive.

I started just trying to grow some mushrooms to eat. I had gotten a kit from a store that you just open up and mushrooms grow. Supposedly growing at home is almost as easy. Well, no mushrooms yet, but my cleanroom is getting cleaner! This filter is pretty crazy! You need a hood for it. There's a nice rubbery gasket around the border to keep a nice seal. Hopefully this will be enough to get my mushrooms going!

It will work for what I want to do, but I have to duct tape it back together because some of the rivets were busted when I opened the box. Kinda a shame. But none the less it will work for what I need.
