My son is a year old, and has very fine hair. This brush works perfectly for his hair, just to get it neat after a bath, or after bed-head. :) I washed the brush with dish soap before use, and made sure to pull at it to get any loose bristles out. It barely sheds at all now. There is no bad smell (when it's wet, it smells kind of earthy, but that's because it's a goat's hair), but it doesn't really smell once it's dry. I don't think this brush would get tangles out, as it seems more of a brush to just get the hair smoothed out and neat. It's very, very soft!

We are loving this sweet little brush for our newborn! He has very fine hair and doesn't have much of it, so this type of brush works perfectly. It probably wouldn't be a good choice for thick or curly/coily hair. It is so soft, and I rub it around in circles on my baby's scalp to stimulate hair growth, and he loves the little massage. It is packaged in a cute little gift bag that can be reused (we are using it to store toy links). You do lose a hair bristle here and there while brushing baby, but it doesn't bother us.

Love this brush. The hairs do fall out some. I do my best to keep it out of his mouth, for this reason. I didn't let him use it until 12 months of age. He's 14 months now and just likes how it feels on his face. He also enjoys brushing the dog. Hahaha

The bristles are so soft! Very thick and totally worth the cost. I love the small size of the brush and the little pouch it comes in is adorable!

I use the brush regularly on my now 13mo baby after her baths or to soothe before bed. As a new toddler, she tries to brush her own hair with it and chew on it, but it has held up beautifully, and works great for brushing her fine baby hair even when it is slightly damp from a bath. It has become part of our bedtime routine.When she was an infant, it helped brush out flakes and smooth out her bath-plastered hair (especially after the times her hair is slathered in Aquaphor and scrubbed with suds to combat cradle cap!) She dozes through the brushing sometimes, so she seems to enjoy getting brushed.At first, it regularly shedded bristles regularly during use, as a minor downside. That only lasted a few weeks; it is now rare to see a loose bristle.

So pleased with this purchase! It had the absolute softest bristles but somehow they brush so much! When I felt how soft they were I didn’t think it would actually brush or style my daughters hair (granted she’s 7 weeks old) but it brushes it so well! It also comes in a super cute bag :) I notice a lot of reviews saying theirs shed like crazy, mine shed maybe 10 bristles on the very first use and hasn’t shed since.

Do yourself a favor and toss the plastic comb you got at the hospital and buy this super soft, quality baby hair brush. Nothing is sweeter than brushing their little hairs and as a bonus I hand it to him during changes and he plays with the bristles.

Love this brush. It is soft, beautiful, well made and ready to use on a newborn scalp. This is a quality brush which is so functional. It gently brushes the hair and massages the scalp. This brush is AMAZING. Received it yesterday and used it at my son's bath time. It made his cradle cap so much better right away! I'm sure it'll be gone after a few more uses. The brush is soft and very lightly smells like a goat when wet, which is the best proof that it's made of real materials. 100% will buy again and will recommend to all my mom friends.
