Product Description

Half Off Ponds CleanSweep 1400 Muck and Debris Pond Vacuum

The CleanSweep Muck and Debris Pond and Pool Vacuum is the fast, effective and convenient way to remove muck, debris and decaying organic matter from water gardens, fish ponds and swimming pools. The compact design of the unit, with easy grip handle, is easy to lift and maneuver.

The powerful 1400-watt motor operates on a continuous intermittent cycle and produces a powerful vacuum. With its 6-foot maximum suction depth, this vacuum can dislodge and extract the toughest layers of settled sludge or decaying organic matter on the pond bottom.

The continuous intermittent cycle means that once the vacuum fills the holding chamber, the motor shuts off so the chamber can drain; after the chamber drains, the vacuum motor restarts and stays running on this intermittent cycle continuously until the job is done.

Pond water, laden with decaying organic matter, makes excellent organic fertilizer for plants and shrubs. Simply attach the debris collection bag to the outfeed hose to capture the solids and allow nutrient rich pond water to flow into plantings. The debris collection bag attaches to the discharge end of the outfeed hose.

The CleanSweep 1400 Muck and Debris Pond and Pool Vacuum comes with the following:

Intake and Outfeed Hoses

The intake hose has an ergonomic built-in handle that the extension tubes will attach to and is 13 feet long for tangle-free cleaning.

The included 6 foot-long outfeed hose can accept the optional debris bag for debris collection, or fertilize your prized rose bush with the debris from the bottom of your water feature!

(4) Intake Hose Extension Tubes

Four extension hoses included for those hard to reach areas of your pond.

Clear tube lets you watch the muck and debris being cleaned from your pond.

(3) Cleaning Nozzles

The wide sweep attachment is equipped with rubber bristles to help scrub off that muck on your featured boulder.

The compact nozzle is for getting into the nooks and crannies of your water feature.

The adjustable nozzle ranges in gaps of 3/8 in. for a thick layer of sludge, and 1/16 in. optimal on thin layers of sludge removal from gravel and pond trays.

Debris Collection Bag (Optional)

Debris bag may be attached to your output hose to collect and dispose of the muck and debris from your pond.

We recommend not using the debris bag, letting the water and nutrient-rich muck flow to a prized near-by rosebush or garden.

Use of debris bag will slightly impede the draining process thus slowing down the vacuum's intermittent cleaning cycle.

How the CleanSweep 1400's Intermittent Cycle Motor Operates

The CleanSweep 1400 works on an Intermittent Cycle. When using as a Pond Vacuum always turn the power switch to the "-". The continuous intermittent cycle means that once the vacuum fills the holding chamber, the motor shuts off so the chamber can drain; after the chamber drains, the vacuum motor restarts and stays running on this intermittent cycle continuously until the job is done.

After switching on your vacuum will begin the cleaning process. There is a float valve inside your vacuum, once the canister is full that valve will trigger the shutdown process while the canister drains. After about 25 seconds the vacuum will automatically turn back on and begin the process over. Repeat as many times as needed until your pond is clean.

DO NOT OPERATE WITH THE POWER SWITCH IN THE “=” POSITION WHEN USING AS A POND VACUUM!

This power option is for an optional dry vacuum feature only.

Troubleshooting Tips

pond vacuum cleaner pool for cleaners mini small koi bag spa hose boss dual pump hand siphon jet vac

The unit does not perform its suction function

"Drain hose incorrectly fitted" - The non-return valve must be located at the free end of the drain hose.

"Excessive height difference between water level and unit" - We recommend to place the unit at a height identical to the water level.

The unit does not reach its full capacity

"Dirt has accumulated in the foam filter, in the suction tube or in the suction hose." - Remove Dirt

"Dirt has accumulated in the non-return valve at the drain hose preventing it from closing properly." - Remove Dirt

The collection container does not drain, the unit switches off immediately following the drain pause

"The collection container cannot drain." - Lay the drain hose without kinks. Provide a slight gravity for the drain hose. Once drained, the container must be almost completely empty.

"Collection container and drain hose are soiled." - Remove dirt.

Low suction capacity

"The more tubes are used, the higher the tube frictional resistance. The suction capacity reduces." - How to improve the suction capacity:

Hold the suction tube as flat as possible.

Just cleaned up my garden pond after a long cold winter. I usually scoop and net larger debris out of my pond with an old pool net which is very helpful, but I've never had a pond vacuum. This product was easy to use and has a helpful video link on how to use. This is more than just a wet/dry vac (I've owned many) and I'm glad I decided to get this specialized adaptation for easier pond health and maintenance. The rocker power switch has two settings, one side for pond cleaning and the other side for dry vac. The pond side powers down for about 25 seconds when the tank fills with water and pond debris to allow drainage thru drain tube with flapper check valve at end of tube. I made sure I had a nice continuous drain slope and extended to my front road swale over the sidewalk (pond is in front yard) with some extra hard tubing (2" I think) from my other shop vac. Worked like a dream. I do not have any gravel in my pond liner as I got rid of that years ago. There is an attachment to help keep the rocks out but that is not my issue as no gravel base on my pond lining. I have a large decorative rock perimeter and really like how it looks so natural, but no gravel or sand in the bottom. My big problem is leaves and multiple years of silty sediment build up. I found the wide head worked best for me and I lifted the vac head out on the 25 second drain cycle (vac powers down when full to drain) and simply pulled the clump of dead leaves off, then resumed cleaning the pond bottom. The clear section of suction tubing is key in giving visual confirmation that the vac head is not plugged and water with silt and debris is moving into the vac. I will be repeating this again soon only because I have so many years of sediment build up. We had a late summer last year with sudden drop in temp so trees held onto the leaves until the dead of winter, they only fell off in the spring which is very unusual for our location. Net result, I still have many dead leaves this spring blown into corners of my garden around the pond that will be gradually blown away by wind or raked up by me. I do plan on using my pool net to gather the pond leaves and my pond skimmer is also key to helping keep my pond clean. When I first put the pond in I had too much gravel and no skimmer and no pond vac. I added the skimmer after the first year which worked great, but a lot of leaves do sink and deteriorate to sludge, so now with this pond vac I think my pond will be amazingly improved and easier to maintain. My pond is natural shaped and about 10-12' diameter and 20" or so deep in center. Has a waterfall feature. Birds love it and now I have an easier way to maintain my pond health. I do leave some sludge on the bottom for proper eco balance of the pond. Very glad I purchased this pond vac. It was pretty easy to use, and cleaned up like a dream, I rinsed everything and cleaned the sponge that protects the motor, dry and then replace. Excellent product and so glad I decided to add this to my pond maintenance routine. THANK YOU HALF OFF PONDS!!!

This thing is a piece of garbage. Worked for 3 minutes when I first bought it then it would no longer suck. Thought it was the missing clip on the hose, so I had to fight to get a new hose. Return for the defective product would cost me the shipping fees for the large item and a restocking fee. In the meantime, had someone else clean my pond. 2 years later I need to vacuum the pond again. Put the new hose on...no suction. Call to troubleshoot with Half Off Ponds and they tell me to look for something to move and my product does not even have that piece! Too late for warranty repair now (my fault) so they offered me a refurbished product for $80. I am really not interested in paying this company more money when their products don't work. My fault for not using it often enough or fast enough to see if it worked after the new hose, but super disappointed with purchasing a product that does not work. It's also very basic for the cost. Basically a poor shop vac with a drain hose.

This works really well but the intermittent cycle that it uses can be a bit slow. While using it, the motor would stop, I wait it would turn back on and then in about 10 feet it would stop again. I was going at a slower pace to avoid the settled algae from getting kicked up, but during the off cycle some return water would push it around. Other then that though it seemed to work well, and was easy to clean.

If one had a small pond such as 300 gallons or less, this would be great as it only has a 10 or so gallon resevoir. However, it was purchased for 2500 split 3 level pond and it required lots of emptying. You have to suck it out, then turn off and blow water out a back side. Its a time consuming process but it does get the job done.
