One features a scalloped pattern at the bottom to allow free flow of grease, while the other features a solid edge to keep as little grease from exiting as possible. Each gate still allows for use of our utensil clean-off squeegee.

These little things are slick. I like that they can stay on the griddle at all times and not be in the way. When you need them, slide them over, and you're all set. Even when cleaning they're just fine, slide them either way so they're clear of where you're working, or just lift them off entirely.

There's not much to say about these...they do what they're meant to do without problems. I don't find that it's necessary to have both styles and they're overpriced; it would be nice if Halo offered them individually and priced them fairly. I subtracted two stars for the overcharge.

One of the primary concerns I have with griddles featuring a rear opening for discarding grease and food debris is the risk of losing good food through this aperture, especially when cooking small items like fried rice or chopped up chicken to liquidy items egg omelets or pancakes! This kit not only addresses these concerns by safeguarding against such scenarios but also offers added benefits: (a) the convenience of leaving them in place when not in use—simply slide them over, and (b) while in use, they don't interfere with the griddle's built-in squeegee, ensuring your spatulas stay clean during cooking.Considering the initial cost of the griddle, it feels like this protective features should be part of the package rather than offered solely as add-ons. I could the add-on useful for those who bought their griddle before these enhancements were available or as replacements for damaged parts. While Halo promotes a built-in level for use, once a griddle is set up and stationary, unless you plan on traveling with it, it shouldn't require continual re-leveling. What sets these grease trap gates apart is their functionality during use—something not matched by any other product on the market today. Halo could do better by providing these features without additional costs instead of nickel-and-diming their customers!

When I got my new Halo, I researched to find what was needed. These were listed and sounded good, not expensive, and stops food from going in the grease trap. After a month of heavy griddling, nothing has even approached the grease trap opening and I clean the griddle after every cook and these are a pain to clean the griddle surface. So yes they work, but they are not needed. cook first and if you have food going in the grease trap--buy these--if not save your money

I recently got a Halo griddle and these are perfect to keep food from going into the grease pan.
