I've been looking awhile and like the idea of a detachable head for large cans. The only issues I have with this model is its difficult to align it and get it started and the magnet that secures the lid tops needs to be engaged with each use if you don't want your lid to drop down into the food. That said, you can get better at insertion for the cutter to engage but it ain't easy and depending on the size of the can, can be frustrating. I suspect the other brands could have the same issue but the price point is right on this model.Overall I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend it with the warning of difficulty of getting the job started.

Removes lid with jagged edge result. I like the ease of cleaning. I like that I can take it off its base to be portable. Magnetic is good. Would buy again.

Works great, functional-use plugged in or unplugged as handheld, durable, and does not take up mich space on counter. Also, place for cord in back, so it doesn't hang everywhere.

Well, I may be wrong, but I think the idea behind a can opener is its ability to remove the lid from a can. This one doesn't more than half the time. The sharp blade that is assigned the role of cutting through a metal can lid does not extend far enough into most cans to even reach the lid, let alone cut it. It does a great job of spinning a can around 360 degrees (or more if one is entertained by that sort of thing). The depth of the blade is not adjustable.Also, most can openers get "gunked up" frequently and this thing is no exception (during the few occasions when it actually opens a can) but it is very difficult to clean. Certainly can't put it in the dishwasher.FWIW, I have tried this opener with a very wide variety of cans; it's failure to perform its assigned role is not a function of a specific type of can. In every case that it has refused to do its job, my old trusty $5 manual opener accomplished the task easily.

Warning to Customers in UK, like me, this is only for use with 110v-120v NOT 220v as in UK ! Therefore have no been able to use it - but fortunately I am moving to 110v country - so hopefully will be able to use it okay then.

have arthritis in my hands and thought this would make it easier to open cans but it takes a lot to get to lock to can if I can get it to at all

While there is a bit of a learning curve as to how to pierce and cut open a lid, once you figure out how to tilt the can it works quite well.
