The instructions the Handy Hands kit are so simple that you truly can learn to needle tat today. The kit comes complete with size 5 needle and threader, so all you need is some crochet thread or pearl cotton to get started. Within a few hours I had mastered the first type of tatting ("one shuttle") and moved on to the next (from the ball or "two shuttle" style). This is a simple craft to learn, only one stich style and knot making, and the book is complete with enough beginning projects to get you off to a good start. On my first day of practice, I had several passers-by compliment my beautiful lace making. There are many beautiful tatting patterns available for free online, and this book truly is all the instruction you need to tackle them. Highly recommended.

This is a great book to learn tatting. I read other reviews and bought based on those reviews and I can also say this is a great way to learn to tat. The book comes with tool, you need cotton crochet thread and you are ready to learn. In short order I had my first item to show what I had accomplished.

Beautiful photos, large clear easy to see, with simple very easy to follow directions. I don't know how to tat at all, but just reading/looking at this step by step guide....I'm not going to have any trouble mastering this easy to do craft. It looks very easy and simple to follow. I have done counted cross stitch my whole life, this will be a new fun thing to try. I also learned how to do loom knitting, by getting supplies, a step by step book and it was fun and easy too. This is my next new project.
