I bought this dish because I needed a crock to make french onion soup in that was broiler safe. The dish is great, works well for french onion soup and can also be used for other things such as dessert souffles, pot pies, egg dishes and more. The price was great and I did not have to buy in bulk. (Some other crocks came in quantities of 12 which I did not need.) The only down side is that there is not a handle. But compared to ones with handles, this one still won out and was the best option.

Very well made dish. We use it all the time. I have purchased other HIC products and they are all very well made and at a cheaper price that what you will pay for name brand.
