Easy install. Works great. Using it on a Beelink S12 as a dedicated Plex server (so not using included software). Gets all the local channels clearly (HD and non HD) that I expect with our antenna (did not try w/ the included antenna). No issues streaming & recording local channels across network.

This tuner works very well, as I have been using these hauppauge tuners for over 20 years now with Windows Media Center. Yes Media Center is still alive and well lol. All the local channels come in very clear paired with an over the air antenna. Currently using on Windows 11 with MCE.

I'm computer savvy, but I still found it a challenge to get the new device set up, configured, and working. It requires an OEM application, which I had to download. Populating the channel "guide" takes around 13 minutes each time (by comparison, my Samsung TV can do it in a minute or 2).I bought this one because it has two tuners, so it can do PiP (picture in picture). I tried using the PiP feature to display 2 different programs in two different windows (I think one of them had to be a program I had already recorded). It brought my computer to its knees -- it couldn't keep up (Intel Pentium Gold G5400 3.70GHz 8G RAM 256G SSD). But PiP in a single window is no problem at all for the CPU.The OEM WinTV app leaves something to be desired. It has some cool and nifty features, but I don't think the user interface is well thought out or implemented -- not as intuitive as I'd expect. E.g., I haven't found a convenient way to swap between the PiP feeds (what good is PiP if you have to manually change the channel in each of the pictures when you want to swap them?).The package includes a small short-range TV antenna. I expected that I was going to have to connect to the TV antenna in my attic (via wall-jack), but to my surprise, the included antenna is sufficient (but marginally).OVERALL, I like it. It's great to be able to bring up WinTV when my TV program has started, but I haven't yet finished what I need to do on the computer!

Got one of these a few days ago, it works well for about an hour and then the next time you got to use it it's basically unusable without sound/garbled sound and with either black screens or incredibly glitched out screens. This happens with the WinTV program that you get with the device, Plex, and every other media system I have attempted. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers literally every time you go to use it appears to be a requirement and only helps 40% of the time.Hauppauge's support is entirely unresponsive as well, they have directions to try using a third party decoder called LAV decoder and it improves basically nothing at all with WinTV.

I needed to add surveillance cameras to my PC. My cameras are sent to an ATSC cable transmitter throughout the house along with over the air signals. My PCs are windows 7 Professional. I had some trouble trying to get the WINTV sticks to work with my old operating systems. Because I am not a computer wiz, I used Hauppauge's chat to try to get help. After some simple trials to get my system setup, they offered an appointment to use Teamview to get on my machine to debug the problem. They quickly found out that I needed a security update from Microsoft and they gave me a link to obtain it ( Microsoft does not support windows 7 anymore ) They then installed the update and installed the Hauppauge WINTV dual on my machine. I was very happy. And they gave me an email clearly stating how to install it on my other identical machines. ( which worked perfectly ) I have rarely seen this kind of customer service before. Computer problems are very hard to diagnose and the people at Hauppauge stuck with me until they solved the issue. I am thankful for their service.Thank you Haupauge.

This small device has been working flawlessly for 3 months. No impact on my Windows 11 system. Easily set it up on my Plex server and I can watch local TV anywhere in the world. You may need a good quality antenna depending on your area.

I purchased this for a newly purchased Nvidia Shield Pro, in order to view and record live over-the-air TV. The Hauppauge TV tuner advertises and comes with a 3 month trial for Plex which touts its DVR capabilities. The Plex software is garbage, very buggy and unreliable. Plex runs for maybe a day, then refuses to record programs, and even live TV fails. Hauppauge online support has been unresponsive to inquiries.Only reason for 3 stars is thankfully there are other Android TV apps besides Plex. I have found that the Android tv included Live Channels works perfectly. Easy to setup and use. And has recorded a ton of shows with absolutely no errors.Windows software is also included in the box, but I did not test this.

Arrived early, instructions should say to plug the unit into the computer before installing the software.

Seems to work best most in powerful and memory loaded computers. At first looked easy enough, the install download from Hauppauge for win 10 didn't work. None of the computers recognized the 1657 as an USB device, even in Device Manager. Toying around and getting nowhere, I noticed another page on the website side small file extra driver for win10 (wintv-solo_dual_quadhd). In desparation installed it. That did the trick. It recieves channels just as well as my existing TV, but now I have a dual channel DVR. Intuitive user interface and smart TV Guide. I can pause anytime and resume live channels. Well worth the money.15 jan 2023 Update: Still operating well, the HD is the standard compressed version not as good as over the air uncompressed HD. The recorder surprisingly can record programs through name recognition. Records daily/weekly series of a show even if they move the schedule around.

No F-male-to-PAL-female transfer plugwas included, making it impossible toconnect the device to the roof antenna.Besides, downloading an app, enteringthe code is a taxing and an unwantedcomplication, which I wasn't warnedabout – and unprepared to cope with.

What a waste of money this was, I don't exactly know if this is an Australian problem or I'm just unlucky, but it never worked at all and there was no customer service to attempt to even fix my issues.

I use it to replace hauppage video capture card. Image quality it's over hauppage. Make a very nice job, no configuration to do. Plug and watch, that it.Negative point: it's just a video capture card, not programmable for a specific channel or time to record, you need to be use the Windows scheduler an change channel manually.
