It sounds clear and the build quality is great. At least not some cheap plastic where you drop it and it breaks. It's easy on the ears. Recording time is short 15 seconds and have to download sound, but easy fix is simply use a electronic cord ,jack and plug into cellphone other end into listening device and record endlessly through a recording app on cell .

My 9 year old son was very excited to be a "spy" with this listening device. On the first day he was excited that he could hear me from about 50 feet away. Then, he couldn't hear anything. We changed the batteries, tried other headphones, and checked the batteries again, but it still didn't work. We returned it.

Initially purchased for use during paranormal investigations, I have found that I spend more time listening to the digestion of my teammates more than anything else. Turns out most demonic activity is a combination of lactose intolerance and junk food. While not really a true parabolic mic, the unit does amplify sounds in a way that is interesting to observe. The recording function is practically useless and there's nothing directional about the mic at all, but if you want to hear a mouse fart from across the room in real time, this will do it. The reality is that the small mic simply has a gain booster built in making things sound bigger than they are. Everything else about it is a toy for looks. Provided there are no solid obstructions you could listen to your spouse, Linda, set up a secret meet up with her lover from across the house. Then you can follow them and find out the truth that she's been sleeping with your boss. Incomparable to other products, as nobody sells a parabolic mic in this price range. Way to corner the market China. The headphones it comes with, while cheap are surprisingly comfortable. The over ear design with faux leather earcups give the illusion of professionalism when using in front of a client. The combo of equipment alone is worth the price of amusement and possibly a messy divorce.

I was using a “chatterbox†to listen for and locate a buried lawn sprinkler valve. It was impossible. I used this unit. I moved it close to and across the ground. Walla! I heard it loud and clear. The valve was almost a foot underground.

The thing came decently packaged but once I got the device out of the box it just felt very poorly made. I took it to the woods with my son and the first time that I let him use it the headphones stopped working. It only holds a few seconds of recordings and if you want to record a second time you have to either upload the first file or delete it to hold the second. The only reason that I didn't send it back for a refund is because I just didn't feel like putting up with the refund process. I would not recommend this product to a friend even if I were getting paid to do so. I gave it 2 stars only because I got a couple good laughs with my son only before the battery terminals shorted out and it fried the cheaply made circuit board.

I can hear multiple birds sing with my hearing. I hear nothing with product—even when I aim it at a bird I can see 25’ from the device. I’ll continue trying for a while because I would be so happy if it would work.

Does not pick up bird songs at all!! All I heard was some CB radios - probably on the buses or taxis. Total waste of time and money so I sent it back and got a refund. Note - the positive reviews are rather suspicious as this thing does noto even remotely do what it is supposed to do.
