I finally got around to getting this product assembled and tested.Assembly was pretty straight-forward. The directions English is not great, but you'll get it. For instance, the first step says to install the "optical axis." Obviously it should say "vertical axis".All the components seems solid, strong, and like they will not break under normal use.It would be nice, I think, if the press did not rotate on the vertical axis. This could have easily been achieved had the vertical-axis shaft been keyed. There's already a pre-threaded hole (for a set screw) on the bearing which could engage with a keyed shaft. There would still be a bit of play, but I think it would be easier to press if you weren't working to keep the press from rotating around the vertical axis while applying downward force. This might be a feature for some. I suppose it depends on the work.

So far i am enjoying using this so far. I am tinkering with modding nerf guns. This is a great tool for that. So far it is working and has not let me down.

The allen head screws used to clamp the bar to the base, and to clamp the sleeve to the bar are far too soft and strip easily. The stop clamp for the bar was extremely loose, and required tightening the bolt very tight, causing the head to strip out. I will be returning this item and purchasing a better design.

I have been pressing in the threaded inserts free handed for a while with very varying success. Some are good, most are questionable. This kit allows for a very vertical pressing in of the threaded insert which makes all of them so far, a success. Why do I take one star off, well this may be overly critical, but it would have been nice to have an attachment for the table or the arm for the two Allen wrenches. For the first few days they were constantly flying around the base as you need them for the adjustments. Secondly, why two Allen wrenches, you could have designed this with just one. Anyhow, I am too critical, and I solved this by printing an attachment box that houses not the wrenches and the soldering iron inserts. The kit works very well, and this is a great addition to my shop!

For $39 this set of threaded insert press and soldering iron is ok deal. The press is of good quality but the soldering iron is not. The iron said ESD safe on the handle but it has no ground connection (eg: 2 prongs.) The iron is also crooked or bend (off by 1/4") The buttons on the iron is of cheap plastic and hard to pressed. There are no temperature adjustment nor sleep capability.

This is amazing! It works super well and makes adding screw inserts to 3d printing a breeze! Love this and well-made! A good value!

This rig is very well built and the product pictures are accurate. The base plate is quite heavy and solid vertical rod with a linear bearing keep the entire rig very rigid and stable. The included soldering iron has temperature control, so you can set the right temperature for your target material. Initial setting may require little experimentation but once you know the right temperature for the material its very reliable and reproducible. No more crooked inserts. If you have drilled a hole before inserting it produces very clean result. Also its not only for 3D printed projects, I used it on some of the cases I built by bending the ABS or acrylic sheets. It provides you an option to add a more reliable threaded screw vs a regular taping screws.Possible enhancements: > The horizontal rail can be made adjustable on fly with a quick lever and separating the soldering iron mounting from the horizontal positioning. > The soldering iron mounts at fixed height, so if you have something need more height this will not work, I think again can be achieved by separating the iron mount from the rail and make it adjustable.I understand that these might increase the price but they are possible to make it more versatile.Overall good purchase, well built, work as expected, many uses for hobbyist DIYers.

This kit is pretty great excluding the completely broken soldering iron I received with the unit. One other issue is the way the iron is attached to the sliding clamp, which could use some revision. Otherwise this whole setup is quite clever and efficiently designed.
