We got this as a Christmas gift and it’s already been out to good use! My brother- in-law LOVES grilling all year long but in the winter it just sucks! This was so easy to set up and works so well! We were able to use it for our dinner that night! May be expensive but just think about how that food will taste with a little more comfort provided.

So the good news. They get warm as advertised. I was using them in our outdoor gym space. One is still working, but the other one caught fire while someone was sitting on it tonight. Luckily she didn't get burned. The mat burned completely through in two spots on the mat.

so far so good. this is the second mat i have used. the last was another brand and the gfi stoped working first season. this mat melts the snow a little slower but is working. as long as the gfi holds up i will be very happy with it. sidenote, the local feral cats give this product 6 stars, they line up on it in a row soaking up the only heat they can find in the michigan polar wasteland.

The mat keeps snow melted off walkway. The issues I have had is slipping on the bare mat and electric cord too short causing a trip hazard as well as not being able to place it in areas needed due to cord.I have mobility issue due to partially paralyzed right side. Slipping on the mat is a hazard for me. Luckily I bought another brand as well which does not cause slip issues when you walk on it because it has raised tread to increase traction. So I have placed this one in an area where there is no incline at all so I am able to be very careful when I go to walk on it.Regardless it works as stated and even though you could slip on it easily, walking on snow and ice would be worse.So I have given this 3 stars due to the 50/50 chance of slipping compared to slipping on snow and ice.

The mat was used outside in freezing temperatures. We woke up to a flipped GFCI outlet that saved our deck and maybe our house. The photo shows the device melted and partially burned. The safety breaker on the cord did not activate. Do not purchase this device. If you have it do not continue to use it.

Update:After a few uses, this literally caught fire (actual flames) and melted and I had to discard it. Thankfully I was standing right next to it when it overheated and caught on fire so I could immediately unplug it and throw it into a snowbank. So use with caution and well away from your house.Original review:This is absolutely perfect for keeping the area in front of my garage door snow and ice free. The size is just perfect to make it 90% of the way across the garage door area. It's easy to "install" - you just roll it out, plug it in, and turn it on. I plug it in in my garage using an exterior extension cord and turn it on whenever there's going to be a storm or days when it rains and then freezes at night. It's ideal for keeping the entire area dry and slip free from everything from ice to snow to wintry mix. If I turn it on before a storm, it ensures that the snow melts on contact, and if I forget and turn it on after a storm, it melts through several inches of snow in a matter of hours.

The power connection is at the center of the end of the mat, and the bulky connector is within the width of the mat. Provision must be made to keep this trip hazard out of the path of travel: in my case, I placed the plug end beyond the door. The power cord comes with an integrated GFCI controller, making the plug too large to fit within an exterior outlet cover. However, the power draw is low enough (under 4 amps) that an outdoor extension cord can be used. Additionally, since leaving the mat powered constantly is not advisable, a switched power source is quite helpful.The enclosed instructions warn against covering the mat with a doormat, etc., when in operation. The snow melt stops over an inch from the edge of the mat, but it does keep a clear path. Although the mat is flexible, it does not lay flat and retains the tendency to curl up. I flipped it with the curl down to keep it as flat as possible, but found it collected ice in the valleys of the cover.My porch can get icy, especially in freeze-thaw cycles. This mat provides a safe path to my front door after an hour.Full disclosure: I ordered this Heated Snow Melting Mat through the Amazon Vine program. As a user of the product, I have done my best to provide an honest review.
