Made from crushed volcanic rock, the Lava Wrap has all the same benefits as exhaust heat wrap with that trick carbon fiber look and improved durability. This exhaust wrap is 25 percent stronger than fiberglass wraps, giving it a prolonged life and greater durability. By wrapping the header and exhaust system, it maintains hotter exhaust gases, decreases the density, and that allows the exhaust gas to exit the system faster. Greater exhaust scavenging is produced helping to lower air intake temperatures. This gives you more horsepower. Volcanic header wrap also reduces radiant heat damage and can lower under hood temperatures by as much as 50 percent. the Lava Wrap withstands 1200F continuous (please note this is a real world tested rating, please don't believe over inflated temperature ratings of similar basalt/volcanic rock products) and 2000F intermittent. Give ythe headers and exhaust system a custom look with the Lava Wrap. the volcanic exhaust wrap can be fastened with Thermal-Tie, hose clamps, or wire.

This exhaust wrap came with good instructions and worked really well wrapping the exhaust pipe from the engine to the muffler on a 1914 Model T Ford Touring. The car is restored and running, the exhaust pipe heat on the passenger side was radiating through the floorboards ( in a Model T, real floor boards ! ) making for a hot experience .This exhaust wrap works, I found it helpful to apply it wet ( I put the whole roll in a bucket of water) , and it helps further if you have a helper to keep the wrap straight .Finally, it helps if you can isolate the item being wrapped by removing it before installation. It is much easier to have space around the exhaust pipe/system rather than trying to install this wrap in a confined space.I used the stainless steel zip ties recommended by others, they work, just practice with one or two before you go "live."

Used this to wrap my bikes headers after the heat shields started looking like crap. Went on pretty easily, and only took me about an hour to do. The instruction say that they will smell when you first ride after you let the wrap dry. This smell only recently went away after about a 2 hour ride. Going back and forth to work and putting around town wasn't enough to cook out the smell I guess. But I don't let that affect my rating. It looks good on my bike and the price on Amazon was the best I could find.

Looks just different enough to be noticeable and works REALLY well. The gold look was off-putting when I purchased it online but when I got it, I loved the way it looked! It was a snap to install as long as you don't rush. Just take your time and really get it tight around your exhaust. The instructions were simple and thorough. But the real reason you buy this stuff is for the heat protection, and it does that very well. My controls place my foot within 2" of the pipes on my bike and I have no problem wearing a pair of converse chucks while I ride. I have gotten many positive comments about the look of it, but I always tell people how well it functions. HIGHLY recommend the lava wrap.

Wrap has been on now for about a month...about 900 miles..and no problems noted. Smoke an odor disappeared after about 100 miles, except for once after a 95mph blast out in the glades. One note on installation; moisten roll(not sopping wet) and get a friend to help with wrapping unless item to be wrapped is secured from movement.Took two rolls to do a SMALL set of 2" diam. radiused pipes, although I weht heavy on the overlap.4 stars instead of 5 because I did have a problem on one roll with fraying one one edge of the roll(like a loose thread)Oh, use hose clamps instead of stainless ties, works much better...

25 feet was just enough to wrap the headers on my buell motorcycle. The wrap didnt try to unravel and the color looks great similar to carbon fiber

I wrapped the replacement down pipes from the v-8 manifolds on my MB. The pipes are really close to the oil pan and since the original pipes had insulation on them, I figurted this was a good idea. I held the wrap in place with stainless hose clamps, That worked well and allowed some adjusting. So far seems to be OK. Also: the 'warning'/note about smoking etc at first use is valid. It is good that the packaging notes the wrap will smoke for a while, they are not kidding! But it burned off in about 5-10 minutes.

It looks nice, but if you want to wrap two pipes fully i suggest getting 25'. I bought two and was only able to wrap half of my pipes. Granted that's the look i wanted but for those of you who want to wrap them whole i suggest a larger amount. Overall tho good wraps haven't faded in color and doesn't tear easily.

not a fan. This product has a very shinny/slippery finish. Its very hard to keep a tight wrap while wrapping a v6 header, i.e. trying to pull this product against itself (it slips very easy). I've used other product that are not shinny and you can get a tighter wrap with those. Hopefully this stuff holds up once its been silicone sprayed, and driven on.
