As in other reviews, the plastic oarlocks do not seem very sturdy. Had a set of metal ones on the old oars that fit the new oars and work just fine.

The oars themselves represent a good value for the money. Unfortunately, as others have pointed out, the oar locks are trash. Both oar locks broke within a couple of weeks. Luckily, we had a pair of excellent quality, Wynn oar locks that we could pull off our old wooden oars. The product comes with plastic oar locks that upon first examination did not look like they would survive very long. That was proved within a couple of weeks.

Built well and worked well.Order metal oar locks for these oars. The 9 ft came with plastic oar locks. Plastic might work fine but I don't want to find out when I need to use them.

I grew up using old fashioned rowboats and much prefer them over all these fancy boats they use today. So when I was looking to purchase a fishing boat, I got a 14-ft v bottom 1966 Lonestar which is an absolute tank compared to today's poorly made standards. It had a paddle with it for emergency use but we wanted real oars for it. It primarily use a trolling motor because we do not go on lakes that allow gasoline and we don't want a big nasty motor guzzling gas at today's prices but just in case we needed it, we decided to upgrade to real oars. These oars are the perfect length for reaching deep into the water with our boat and because they are in three pieces, we can slip them under the middle seat when not in use and keep them out of the way. I can't speak to how long the or pegs will stand up because I've only had them for a short time but if you have a 14 ft V bottom fishing boat, these will be the right size for you.

These oars are lighter, wider and their concave face really grabs the water. Rowing is effortless with these oars. I should have replaced the old set years ago.
