The presumption with these is that when your vehicle is on stands, the suspension will be low enough that you can do a straight line with the tape measure between the brackets on each side. This may not be the case if you've got a low sports car, it certainly was the case with my BRZ. I solved the issue by cutting two pieces of 1/2" plywood about 6"x8", bolting the toe plates to the bottom edge, and drilling out the top edge for my wheel studs. The brackets are nice and heavy duty and the notches work well for holding and reading the measuring tape.

I had tried to align with using the thread on the tires but it just was still off on the next ride. The alignment bars worked great. I would buy again or recommend them to others.

This is near impossible to use.A, it doesn't sit dead center over the hub, so rotation of the wheel will throw it off and camber will also throw it off.i had to put weight on the wheels, (hubs on jack stands, no lifting on the body) ground must be perfectly level on all 4, and i measured height to floor and used a level to get it as straight as possible and rechecked everything 5 times!!!Took it for an alignment after and it was STILL way off.The only way this would work is with the tires attached, and a custom bracket to center the line over the hub.I had better results just using a tape measure to the rim than this tool.

These are great for the DIY mechanic. Saves you $100+ on those fancy, computerized alignments. Get a camber tool to complete the driveway alignment.
