It really is super lightweight. I wouldn't chance cutting anything on it. It seems like a product that will last if you treat it right and will break quickly it you don't.As a student with a lot of drafting supplies to tote around along with my normal class supplies this was a godsend to my back pain.

I like the board overall. It is light and works for me. The only reason I did not rank it as a five is that it was in an oversized box with no packing material. It arrived with a couple of very small dings on one edge. They don't cause any problems, but I was really concerned when the box arrived with a big crease in it.

This drawing board is very lightweight. I'm not sure what it is made of. But, it seems to have the characteristics of a thick foam core board with a thin wood veneer. It is undersized from the specs given by 1/4" on both demensions. If you plan to use the full demensions this will be an issue. It is reasonably square. My biggest complaint besides being undersized is, one corner seems to be delaminating after only a couple of days just sitting on the table. It has not been dropped or otherwise abused. I am contemplating returning it. It is functioning OK, but the delamination is concerning.

When I lifted the package after it was delivered, I thought they forgot to put the board in the box, that's how light it is. I have had no issues with it yet, it is flat with no give in the center (I thought it might be hollow), the sides are square with metal. I have nothing but good things to say about this drawing board.

Not to pile on, but hoo boy. One side had come unglued on one edge. When I drew, I could hear a squeaking and feel the whole thing flex. I ALSO discovered that the entire thing was slightly concave AND that the long edges weren't perfectly straight. Helix: sort yourself out.

Nice sturdy board with a large surface area for larger drawing pads. This is a must have for artists. This product was about half the price vs the local stores.
