Hercules Braided Fishing Line is ideal not just for fishing but for beading hobbies. I had bought a custom made beaded necklace years ago and in the middle of teaching a class, it fell apart and beads scattered everywhere. The kids helped me pick them up but it was really embarrassing. Another crafty necklace that I bought did the same thing! That's when I started making my beaded jewelry myself but with the idea of better quality which at the top of the list would be the chord. So far this has been a great line for bowfishing. I was worried that the line would be to small for the bottle reel that I had, but it hasn't had any issues on the retrieval.

I have several spools of this and use it with an industrial sewing machine for sewing webbing and heavy fabrics.. the 20lb spool feeds easily and reliably through an 18 needle. The only consideration is that you need a pair of good shears designed for kevlar.. This stuff will destroy normal scissors.NOTE the grey and colors I have received are great.. The BLACK version has this nasty residue on the thread which delaminates as it feeds through a machine. It would certainly also shed this trash all over your spool on a fishing rod and leave flakes of black shiny junk everywhere. Either it was a manufacturer defect with this lot.. or a byproduct of the black coloring.. the rest were awesome.

I have bought 12 spools of this line in colors and in white. I don't prefer the colored version and I only buy it in white now. I use this line to fly all my different kites. I like that it comes in several different strengths and lengths. My kites are all very expensive some as much $800 and this 12 strand line works very well for kite flying and never let's me down. Probably good for fishing but I don't use it for that. I prefer the 12 strand line over the 8 strand line for a smoother and rounder profile.

I guess I shouldn't have bought this so far in advance of the fishing season because now I can't return it. Used it for the first time on Sunday and the line broke. It is not strong at all like it's advertised. What a waste of $135.
