This is a great stand because you carry it in the trombone bell. The stands folds up and fits on the trombone bell. Most trombonists find their conventional stands awkward to carry especially if you carry a gig bag just want to carry your trombone case. The stands folds up and is on the lighter side. It is fairly priced. The stand is not as stable as a regular one so you must be careful not to tip it when the trombone is on it.

This is probably a tad overpriced for what it is, but it is hard to argue that it is simply an excellent product. It fits perfectly into the bell of my son's trombone and stores neatly into the case--this is such a useful feature that guarantees that it gets USED. I worried that the thinner materials required for a more portable stand might render it flimsy, but no.. it's quite solid when set up and we've had no issues. The only issue I have is minor and really unavoidable: it makes the case rather bell-heavy. But if the stand were lighter, it wouldn't likely be so sturdy, so a fair trade-off in my opinion! In all, it's a well designed stand that may be expensive, but I certainly don't feel cheated. Very satisfied with our purchase.

Others have complained of the durability of this stand. I got it for my second horn, a plastic PBone. Since the horn is so light, I don't anticipate any problems and I was looking for a lightweight, compact stand to work with the almost weightless PBone. This one fit the bill nicely since it fit right inside the bell in the rather small, flimsy gig bag that comes with the PBone. So far so good.

Okay the two horns in the images are my Bundy student small bore tenor trombone and my Yamaha YBL 830 bass trombone. Why because I wanted to cover the range for this stand. With the student tenor. It doesn’t go all the way into the bell, so the case will not close. It holds the horn fine when out of the case, but not in the case. For that you would do better to get a $30-40 stand if the kid has to carry it anyway. If not you will have to gamble and see if their case will hold it.The Yamaha bass trombone holds it just fine because it is a large bell and bore. The center post is not great for balance, so if it is sitting next to you shouldn’t be a problem if you walk away and it gets bumped it might be a deal breaker. I don’t think it is a problem for a practice stand in a calm area, but not a high traffic area. Now for the stand the construction is about on par with most other stands the advantage they have is they are thicker. The legs are about on par for other stands I have used. I wanted the larger Hercules stand that grips the slide, but it doesn’t work with bass trombones. I kinda wanted a one size fits all. It should work with my bass, but the student tenor it will have to go in a bag. Will work great for time I need to put it in a peak music stand bag, but not the instrument case.

2021 Update:Newer version is not as sturdy as the previous builds. 2 leg breakages and replacements in less than 2 years of moderate use (less than 30 breakdowns/setups) has proven (to me at least) that build quality is now an issue with this product. This no longer has my recommendation. The search for a new gig stand resumes.2019 Original Post:TL;DR: Sturdy, best option out there, but not does not fit with most smaller bells.I have been regularly gigging with a well-established party/wedding cover band for over the last 10 years, and this is the third time I've purchased this stand. These tend to last about 4-5 years when stored in the trunk of a car in a cold-weather environment before it starts to rust out and/or break from wear/tear, but will likely last much longer for those who travel and/or break down/set-up less regularly.Overall, you simply cannot have a better stand on stage with 4 other man-imals with stringed instruments in their hands swinging wildly. Sturdy as hell, my only real gripe is that the latest version's extending pole is much tighter than in previous iterations, sometimes forcing me to need two hands to extend/retract the center pole.I take 1.5 point off for portability and 1 point overall rating as this only fits flush in the bell of my largest trombone bell (a CONN 88-HO), whereas I have to keep it separate from any med/small-belled trombone bells when transporting (e.g., a late-1940's CONN 4H, and an Olds mid-size student trombone) as it protrudes a couple of inches. However, if you need something that can withstand a hurricane and don't mind if it protrudes from the bell during storage, this is 100% recommended.

I’m in a community band that borrows a rehearsal space, so we have to carry all of our equipment in and out every time. I got this stand so I could carry it in my case and have my other hand free for something else.I have a Conn 88ho, and this stand fits snugly in the bell and case without feeling forced. It also has no trouble supporting the weight of the instrument. There’s plenty of adjustability in height, and I’m quite pleased with it.My favorite trombone stand right now is the Hercules DS520B, which supports the instrument by the slide braces instead of the bell, but this stand is VASTLY more portable, which is why I own one of each.

This stand can sit safely inside the bell of the trombone while in its case. It is also a super secure and stable stand when unfolded. I thought it was too short at first until I figured out there's a button at the top you depress and it will extend to any reasonable height needed. This works for both my Conn 88h tenor trombone as well as my Shires bass trombone. Another nice feature is the soft bag it comes in helps wick away moisture after a gig while its in the case. I am really tempted to buy a second one so i don't have to keep swapping it between trombones.I like that it is sturdy and solid feeling but that also means its a bit heavy, I don't mind the weight but smaller musicians might find the added weight annoying.
