If mounted vertically you get a range of operating speeds and associated noise. For a shop environment I find this fan fairly quiet.The fan operates at full speed if the controller is not connected so remote operation and wiring is a good possibility. In my tests the louvres will open at higher fan speeds when the fan is mounted horizontally.If you use the controller the sensor needs to be attached or it will continuously alarm. In addition the fan requires the control wire to be run from the controller unit to the fan so mounting at some distance would be a challenge which is my case.My fan arrived with one of the arms controlling the louvres broken off. Plastic fastners were used and I found one in the bottom of the box. There wasn’t visible shipping damage so I assume some handling problem or a fragile assembly. Check carefully and see pics. Typically this would be easily supported by Amazon or the vendor but I didn’t have availability to follow up.I’d give this 4.5 stars. I think the execution of the controller could be better but overall it’s a nice product pretty much as described. I got this for venting part of my garage that I use for painting and powder coating. I realize most people are using this for green houses and such, and I think it would work well there too. I like that the shutters close when the fan is off, because we have a terrible problem on the East coast with invasive stink bugs. Right now I've tested out the fan draw and it seems plenty adequate for the venting I'll need. I'm waiting on warmer weather to cut a hole in my garage siding to use this. The air flow seems sufficient. Having a fan with a size matching shutter saves time.

A ventilation fan with a thermostat helps keep the air moving, drawing out hot and stale in favor of more cool and fresh. The shutters keep the warmth from escaping Webex not activated. Recommended for utility.

Works good, however the little pegs that hold the louvers on snap off easily. First one I received had four broken off. Second one came in good shape but in simply taking it from the package one broke off. Still works for now.

Quality exhaust fan. Installed this unit in a small greenhouse and it provides a lot of circulation. Love the built-in thermostat. Good retail price on Amazon for the quality you are getting.

I have a home in the southeast with a muck room on the north side of my home, to say it still gets hot in the summer is an understatement. I unfortunately didn't receive this until the winter, but on some of the warmer days we've had, this already shows promise in getting the warmer air out. It was easy enough to install and get set up. Whether or not I'll need a second one is yet to be determined. In any case I'm already very pleased and looking forward to the room being bearable come summer of this year. If it completely disappoints I'll return with an update.

This fan is exactly what I needed to vent out our large greenhouse when the temperature reaches a certain threshold right now we had an automatic window that would open, but it just doesn’t cause enough airflow to move, with the aid of this fan I’ll have tons of movement through my greenhouse, which will really take some of the stress off the plants being too hot of an environment, all the time.I plugged it in and tested it. It is a little bit loud, but it is quite strong and it shouldn’t have any problem fencing out my area.. really looking forward to the automation versus having to do everything manually right now A+ for design.
