This is a huge effort shortcut for doing smaller lathe projects. Once you learn how it fits together, it's pretty obvious how easy it makes those kinds of jobs. This one is very nicely machined, and fits together in a smooth and solid way that's very satisfying and makes for a great turning foundation. I can't find a single flaw in the machining, so I'm pretty impressed with how the kit was put together.

The Hicarer 2MT Pen Turning Mandrel is a deal, especially considering a similar item is available for $4 more on a popular website and you also have to pay for shipping from that company! You get the 2MT mandrel, 5 bushings, plus a mandrel saver tailstock center. They are made of stainless steel so less concern with rusting mandrels! These are well made and come in a plastic case. I'm glad I ordered this set as I need a new mandrel for turning ink pens.
