I was in need of replacing the hinges on one of my kitchen cabinet doors. This is certainly an odd-ball type of hinge, I couldn't find one until I was able to identify what it's called - a demountable hinge. Well that's a new one me. I then found this hinge. It is identical to the hinges that were originally installed in my kitchen cabinets over 35 years ago. Gosh what are the odds of that? It fit like a glove with a perfect match, even the color and finish. Now the cabinet door is solid as a rock. Was happy to find this.

After purchasing the wrong replacement hinges 3 times I finally got it right. I also learned the new term "double demountable". The hinge locks into place in pre-cut slots in both the door and in the frame, making it easy to replace with a new hinge that actually self-closes. It was also a perfect match for the old hinges on my 35 year old oak cabinets. The quality is excellent.

Old hinge somehow bent. Was unable to find the demountable hinge locally. Once we figured out what it was called, we searched Amazon and found the more expensive brand already on our cabinets and this one by Hickory. I took a chance on the less expensive (though still pricey for two hinges) option and it arrived promptly. installed today in minutes and they work perfectly. The color closely matches the original (but without the old paint, scratches and obvious signs of aging). Very happy with my purchase.

I refinished our old kitchen cabinets, I needed to replace the bronze with satin nickel hinges. Could not find anything local. Received the hinges today and replaced the old ones in a few hours. perfect exact fit, the original were installed in 1976. I was amazed I found this on Amazon.

Turns out I needed single demountable so had to return and exchange for that version from the same manufacturer. Very happy with the hinges once I got the right version. These can be hard to find.
