We use our wine opener a lot, and after nine years this one is still solid as a rock and pulling corks with ease. Another brand I bought for our cabin broke after three years, so I just bought another HiCoup. Excellent product.

This set is so much more than I expected for the price. It's a real quality piece. Very heavy and sturdy. Works amazing. I am happy.

I have used this a couple of times and it seems to be doing the job of cork removal very well. I like that it has a coiled steel wire type construction rather than the castings that I've seen available on many models lately.

It's a sturdy opener and is packaged nicely. It would make a nice gift as well.

This winged-style, wine bottle opener is structurally similar to other corkscrews, but appears to be far better made both in quality of materials, heft, and look. So far we've only opened one bottle with it since getting it 3 days ago, so who knows if it will last? No issues at all, and I don't see any in the near future if it is used with reasonable care. The black on chrome look is attractive, and as others have commented, the box it came in is attractive either for gift-giving, storage or for other non-wine uses. The price was competitive, and a small, inserted note in the box informs you that they are very willing to help if you have problems. The included device to replace the cork is cleverly made, easy to use, and just a nice touch. One does have to chuckle at the name of the product line, HiCoup, but it did draw my attention to the product among the many corkscrews available through Amazon. Had I been clever and with enough time, I perhaps could have done the review as a haiku. And yes, you can also open beer bottles with it.

As a "seasoned citizen" who enjoys good wines; this device is gonna make my life easier... Have had it for less than a week, and am in love with it already... After only two corks; following many years of frustration; I'm hoping it's the last one I will have to buy.Experience has taught me that "cut threads", as this one has, are more efficient; but inherently weaker. Cannot be sure of the metal quality in this one just by examination... But, a "magnet test" tells it is probably good quality stainless steel, rather than a casting that will be weaker...One hint for any corkscrew: As an old machinist and woodworker, I'd suggest a bit of lubricant on the screw before first use. I used a dab of Vaseline and spread it with light wipes of a paper towel.. (Crisco, EVOO, or any kitchen "slick stuff" should work.) That lets the screw slide through any natural or synthetic cork with little pressure, and no tear-out... No sweat; the screw is shorter than the cork, and should never reach the wine.Happy "corking". -pp

This is truly an excellent corkscrew. When I saw it listed here in Amazon, I knew it was the one for me. I have arthritis and I also am blind. I wanted something sturdy and easy to use, and would lift out the cork with no mess. his totally fits the bill. It is heavy and durable enough so that it does not slip during use. I was able to easily center the device so that the "worm" would hit the center of the cork. I did have to push a bit on the bottle to get it started, but once started, it was a piece of cake. The oblong knob on top was easy to hold and turn. The cork came out in one beautiful piece on the first try. I am slo blind, and my sighted friends who have seen it say that it is quite classy looking with the combination of black and silver. It is truly a great device; I am glad that I purchased it. I also give cudos to customer service. Lori walked me through the process of using it the first time. She was very helpful. Great customer service. If they come out with any more products that would suite the bill, I will glady but from the. Also, this is at a great price. It is hard to find well-made items at such a bargain.

Sadly, although the opener looked good, was packaged nicely, and was very well priced, after nearly completing its very first cork pull on a fresh bottle, it failed - spectacularly :) I was "showing off" my new opener, to family and friends - the ooohs and the ahhhs as the cork was pulled effortlessly from the bottle neck... When, at the last gasp, one of the pins, that hold the geared lever to the corkscrew spindle, POP'd quite loudly, and shot across the room, striking my aunt in the forehead! (No permanent harm done, but I'm still laughing at the look of horror on mother's face :) This allowed the lever to instantly fly free of the handle housing, and it got away from me in the heat of the moment, and landed some feet away, in the chili cooker. (Da's face was a mirror of mother's - with a touch more red - it was his chili after all)Closer inspection of the now defunct device, revealed flakes of disbounded chrome-like "dip", still clinging to the geared grooves in the levers, as well as visible machine marks on the top of the handle shaft (around the "bottle opener" part of the cork screw). All in all, although I am still laughing about it, I feel I must strongly recommend AGAINST this particular opener, as the quality control seems somewhat lacking, and the results of its use, remain... Unpredictable! (See photos) Finally, as noted by many others in review, the "screw" (auger), is quite blunt at the tip, and required SIGNIFICANT downward force to be applied, before it would "bite into" the cork - in point of fact, I'm a 185lb full grown male, and it took the ENTIRE weight of my upper torso and as much force as I could apply with chest and arm muscles, to FORCE the auger into the cork - this resulted in the destruction of the top part of the cork, turning it into tiny bits of broken cork. Now, once the auger had gotten a good bite on the cork, it went right down with little effort - however, during the cork extraction, the device failed, as noted above. Big thumbs DOWN on this "opener"!

Fantastic wine and bottle opener. Have had this item a while now but had to wait until I was sober to write a review. Looked very similar to my last one but for some reason this version was much more easy to use. The corkscrew bit (technical term obviously) was sharp and went in no bother and the actual removal of cork was smooth and done with ease. Removing a bottle lid was also easy. Customer service from seller was first class and received a couple of emails before and after arrival providing instructions on who to contact if any issues and came across very friendly. Would defo recommend

perfect item. this one is very well made, the ears are solid, not loose like many cheaper models. its important when you open an expensive bottle to be able to do so easily. comes with a bottle cap, and also in a very elegant and sturdy box that serves well for storage.
