Your cart is empty.The Better Geiger Radiation Detector is designed to be a sensitive, accurate, and easy to use tool to measure potentially hazardous radiation levels. The user can set dose rate and total dose alarms as desired. It uses a solid scintillator material instead of a traditional Geiger tube. Compared to the M4011 type Geiger tube commonly used in other detectors, with a Cs-137 source the Better Geiger is over 3x more sensitive and can measure 100x higher maximum dose rates (up to 100 mSv/hr), making it more suitable for extreme environments. The OLED screen is bright and clearly visible even in daylight. Controls are handled by six simple to use buttons. A rubber shock-absorber is included for ruggedness. An optional waterproof case can be purchased to protect the device further. An optional test source sample can be included as well, a small quantity of natural uranium ore.

I tried to purchase one of these from the company website, but had ordering problems, so I ordered it here from Amazon. The unit I received had 'iffy' readings (sometimes they were fine, other times there were suspicious), so I reached out to the company.They responded quickly and rushed me a replacement unit, along with test source (and case) - just fantastic support. The new unit works as expected.So... the unit... it is a nicely made palm-sized unit. It comes with a rubberized case which is easily removable (needs to be removed to install the two AAA batteries).It is battery powered (so great in the event where main power is out).The display is fantastic - nice and bright, and can be used in total darkness or in sunlight with ease.The controls are easy to learn - and it has all the expected modes and an audible click (if desired).No graphing capability (nor remote data logging), but beyond that - a really nice, compact unit.And again, obviously from a company that really cares about their products and product support!

Very user friendly, the display shows important information in a simple way, the buttons are straightforward, alarms are easy to set. Responds quickly to low levels with test sources I have, and can also handle really high levels of radiation, though I have no way to test that and hope I will never need to. AA batteries make it simple to instantly "recharge". Solidly built. Fun for educational use (I like the dose chart it came with) and a good item to have in case of unlikely disaster.

Seems to be a good quality, I tested at next to a laboratory quality geiger counter and it is within acceptable ranges of accuracy. Much better than the cheaper units out there.

Love how simple it is. Seems to work really well with my old lantern mantles. I wish they had a version that I could just leave plugged in all the time running 24/7.

The sensor on the counter is on the same side of the screen its not on the top of the counter

This new version is really tough, and the case keeps everything well sealed off, feels well made and I love that it’s made in US. Hopefully never need the high range but good to have in case of a bad scenario. Buttons and menu are very straightforward. Nice clicking sounds when it detects something. We love to use this around the house and hiking to explore the world, and feel much safer having it on hand in case of an emergency! Excellent product!!

Great device, very simple to use, clear results if levels are elevated. I tested with some radioactive material and it was responsive and accurate. Highly recommend for the price, more accurate than cheaper devices made overseas.
