This is an impressive thermal camera - the frame rate is great, it is extremely sensitive, the optical camera and "fusion" view work well, and it has a large bright screen. It does not feel like a "knockoff" or offbrand at all.The menus and buttons are a bit confusing at first, but it becomes easy to use once you get the hang of it. The sensitivity is amazing, I was able to trace circuits in a house by just plugging in a space heater then checking for warm breakers in the box. My old FLIR One was too low resolution to catch a warm wire. One tip is that others have said it isn't possible to lock the scale - you can! It just isn't very intuitive. In the settings menu, choose "Level", and change it to Manual, that switches back to the camera, but now you can use the up and down arrow to change the "max" and "min" readings for the color scale. Once you set both, advancing with the power button, then the scale is locked.

Well I am obsessed with this. I watch the antics of my pets at night, look for wildlife off the porch in the dark, examine how my in floor heating is doing, use it to install things in my house - you literally see the inside of the walls. I could go on!! It’s easy to use ( when you turn it on, you’ll always think it’s broken because you have to slide a button to uncover the lens first) no instructions needed, no fussing with buttons. It actually shows way more info than I need on the screen at first, you can access the settings and turn lots of that off if you want. If you are with an engineer or scientist tho, they will become obsessed with this and you’ll have to write them a note and put it in front of this device to get their attention. Super fun and a tool (toy) that every person should have! Worth every penny.

Good form factor, solid build, nice picture. User interface is fairly difficult to use, and not intuitive. USB-C charging is nice.. if it worked.. It regularly shut down the port on any PC / Mac I plugged it into due to excessive current draw. When it was working, it was useful, and accurate. However.. the batteries die quickly, even when turned off, and a few months in, would no longer charge or turn on anymore. The manual says to keep it charged all the time, to prevent battery damage - which is a significant design problem. The largest single problem is there has been zero support from Hikvision. Tried calling, email, all avenues suggested - and not a single response. So, less than a year in, I have a pretty paperweight with a dead battery and no path to repair it. I'd suggest FLIR if you want usability or reliability.

This HIKMICRO B20 256 x 192 IR Resolution Thermal Camera is a long-awaited addition to my toolkit! For many years, thermal imaging cameras and modules have been prohibitively expensive. Several years ago I gave in and bought an IR Thermal Camera module that attaches to my iPhone via the lightning port, and it was fine for what it did, but it was very low resolution and didn't do photo overlay (only side by side). I made do with this for a long time, but now that iPhones are saying farewell to physical connectors I knew it was time to revisit the technology to look for something stand-alone. The usual brands continue to offer a variety of quality thermal camera options, but they continue to be priced for business purchase rather than something some consumers might find approachable. When I realized HIKMICRO had a line of handheld IR Thermal Imagers at a somewhat more reasonable price point with better resolution imagers, I dug in and did my homework and I eventually chose this B20 model. It's on the higher end of the price range of their models, but I found a number of its features to be valuable enough to justify the price difference, primarily because I'll be using this unit for a variety of professional purposes.I'm blown away by the size of the IR thermal sensor for the cost, and the ability to turn on the photo-overlay feature really clinched the deal for me. With this B20 I don't have to do any fancy photo editing and layering after the fact... the images are complete right out of the device. WiFi and USB connectivity are great, as is the ability to view the screen output on my phone or laptop. The ability to set alarms and set multiple fixed measurement points mean that if I'm trying to diagnose equipment that's having issues, I can set up the unit on a tripod or shelf and get real-time thermal measurement on multiple areas within the viewing area rather than having to point and click at individual spots sequentially. The auto-ranging high/low temperature points, the ability to adjust for parallax and emissivity, the high temperature range (up to 1000+ degrees), and even the built-in LED work-light are all welcome features. HIKMICRO packs a LOT of capability into a hand-held package. The retail box doubles as a storage case, though I'll eventually get a waterproof hard case with foam for better protection. In terms of features and capabilities, the B20 stands head and shoulders above its competition. If not for a few specific things, I could have chosen one of several less expensive similar units from HIKMICRO as there are a number of foundational capabilities that are common across their model line. Based on my experiences with this unit, I'd absolutely recommend it for both personal and professional use. In the past month, I've used it to confirm that circuit boxes in high voltage environments didn't have any hotspots at their connection points and I've used it at home to track down some areas in my walls where weather-sealing will be needed. Thanks to its sensitivity, I've even used it to see where wall studs are located behind a vintage heavy-coat plaster wall (differences in thermal conductivity mean that the studs hold heat whereas empty wall cavities don't, and the coupling to the plaster wall meant I could see those warmer lines with the B20... an unexpected bonus that will come in handy!).HIKMICRO has raised the bar in terms of higher resolution thermal imagers at more reasonable prices. They're making this technology accessible to consumers and small businesses in ways that their competitors don't seem to be willing to do yet. Whether you're using thermal imaging around the house or at the jobsite (or both), you'll wonder what you ever did without this kind of tool!

This IR camera provides great value! Purchased after reading another Amazon review and have not been disappointed. The pictures are relatively sharp and temperature sensitivity is good enough to see studs and rafters on a hot day.

I use this everyday for work and I am extremely happy. Previously used a FLIR C3X which was literally impossible to get photos off of, to the point where I just took a photo of its screen. This is super easy to connect to my iPhone and the photos are captured on that which is perfect because I can upload right into the other apps I use, no need to transfer or use a computer at all. Also, the resolution is way better and the Fusion mode is nice. Would love an M10 but this fit my budget and I am very happy for the price.

It was working great until the battery died and when I tried charging it it wouldn’t charge, left it charging for a full day and when I tried to turn it on, Nothing, Thankfully I’m in the return timeframe, Ill get a second one and hopefully it will work.

I have been waiting years for an option like this to become available. I have used Flir products for decades at work but could never afford the ridiculous prices that Flir charges for products that aren't that great. It's the usual scenario when a company dominates an industry for so long and eventually abuse their position by charging outrageous prices and not doing any R&D and improving their products. I believe that products like the HIKMICRO B20 will be a wakeup call for Flir. I am so impressed with the performance, features and price of the B20. I have been able to use it side-by-side with a $6K Flir and the HIKMICRO B20 was superior in almost every aspect, resolution, features, price, ease of use and you are able to turn off the watermark on the screen. One company I showed the B20 to is going to stop using Flir and start using MIKMICRO instead, the cost savings are going to be tens of thousands of dollars because of how many they use. At this price-point you can afford to simply replace a unit if there's a problem. My only petty complaint is that you have to spend another $50 to get a carry case, I have bought equipment that is a tenth of the price of the B20 and they came with cases. For an $800 piece of hardware I was a little surprised it didn't come with a case, we all know the case only cost a few dollars to manufacture.

The item never ever powered up. We bought it for the project in December but due to internal delays, we needed it only now in February. Amazon does not accept returns any longer. The item is faulty, we spent GBP 600 for a brick. it does not charge neither it powers on. The instructions are terrible too. AVOID, get something from a reputable brand. Such a disappointment!Edit: the team from Amazon was very helpful and agreed to accept a return. I will update if refund went through ok.UPDATE: I bought the second B20 camera and it behaved same way. I assumed I am an idiot, and was right. The camera ONLY charges using USB-A, obviously all of my devices use USB-C high power cables and the camera is unable to receive any charge using those cables. PLEASE update the information so others do not return the camera. A bit annoyed how stupid this is, it is a matter of adding one chip to enable high power cable charging. Camera itself works well. I am yet to test how it works with an app.
