10pcs Vibration Switch Shock Vibration Sensor Shake Switch
Description:
Output: Switch Sensor
Vibration switch vibration sensor / vibration sensor / shaking ball switch (rolling marbles type)
1. BL-540 is a spring-type, unidirectional vibration-sensing touch switch, which is triggered only by downward force.
2. This series of switches is in the open-circuit 0FF state when it is stationary. When it is subjected to downward force and reaches the corresponding vibration force, or when the moving speed reaches an appropriate high (eccentric) force, the conductive pins will generate instantaneous conduction and become an instantaneous ON state. ;When the external force disappears, the switch returns to the open circuit 0FF state
3. The trigger sensitivity of this series of switches can be adjusted according to customer requirements.
4. The switch life can reach 200,000 times under normal use.
5. Suitable for toys, burglar alarms, electronic scales and other electronic products

The vibration sensor actually works like a momentary switch. There is a light spring suspended horizontally with a weight on one end over a contact. The metal of the spring looks like silver -- but not sure what it is. Everything is enclosed on a clear plastic case (not sure if it water-proof). Through-hole legs are 0.5" apart and will work in a standard prototyping bread-board. The legs are flatted wire and somewhat flimsy (but no big deal). The sensor would be sensitive in one direction but you could have others in other orientations as well. I am using it to detect when an animatronic stuffed-animal is dropped or impacts something -- so it can say "Ouch!" I have it connected to a 3.3V MCU digital pin directly through a resistor to limit current to under 20mA. It works!

They are not vibration sensors, they are more like crash/extreme force sensors. After ohm testing them, i packed them back up and sent them to China. Don't both with these cheap non functioning sensors. Star rating should be a clue!

Works slightly better than some other products but I can't get them to work reliably

These are not repeatable and take an AMAZING impact to set off.Create a 4-direction array setup on a breadboard and the amount of force required to trigger was unusable.

These are not rolling marble type sensors, contrary to the description. They do, however work well for basic directional switching. One note of caution is that these are not airtight. There are small openings in the ends. I found out the hard way when I embedded my circuit in epoxy and the sensors stopped working. Seal them off first with hot glue or something before embedding.

These are ridiculously unreliable. Total garbage. They require far too much force to trigger and even then it's extremely inconsistent.

Still haven't used them. I guess they are ok. They shipped fast and were exactly as advertised.

Only consider buying this product if you are replacing the same item in an existing circuit. There are no details regarding 'trip' level, how it responds to vibration vs. shock inputs, temperature limitations, or anything else. Nothing on the Amazon listing. No paper sheet came with the sensors. No response to an email I sent to the seller. Nothing on the manufacturers website.
