Proximity, light and RGB functions work fine. Gesture detection does not. Used Sparkfun's library and guide. Tried with various MCU's, on breadboard, direct connect. No change. Returned the 4 units.

I used the Sparkfun library for this and it works great. I use it to swipe through menus on an OLED thermostat. The library has code for basic genstures but according to Adafruit more complex gestures are possible. It’s definitely a step up over using buttons and works perfectly.

Both samples really deflective - Not just one but both bad; they both did initialize. This shows bad material and or workmanship.I got two samples in this APDS-9960 order. I ran both on Arduino Uno and ESP32 and has the same results on both ESP and Arduino. Both had very disappointing failure results. I ran instructions form several web sites. Both samples initialized with confirmation.Sample 1: After not working for a while it would all of a sudden start working at 20% or less functionality with less than 25% accuracy when it got something; some of directions had almost impossible registration at 5% or less of the time.Sample 2: would register but never produce a single interrupt for any direction.

This is a great 3 or 4-in-1 sensor. I hooked it up to an ESP32 and within minutes had it reading RGB values (see photo), proximity (see video) and hand gestures (e.g. moving left/right/up/down, moving closer/farther). For this price I could not have hoped for better performance or quality.

Both sensors were not working as designed. I was able to connect to the sensor and get readings, but all the values are zero. No proximity/gestures were working, nor was the light sensor. Incredibly disappointed. If you're intending to use this to measure the amount of light in a completely dark room it'll be accurate, but any time there's actual light you're trying to measure, it probably won't work.

I feel fortunate to find these, as I have a friend with MS and could use a gesture-controller. More data will become available in the Arduino forums as this new part gets traction in the maker community

After spending many hours trying to get these boards to work with an Arduino Nano ESP32 (tried different libraries, etc...), neither one would even initialize. Very disappointing.

Works with both SparkFun and Adafruit APDS9960 library without any issue.

Gesture Sensors worked well with Arduino
