The output of the Solar Charger is intended to charge a single polymer lithium ion cell. The load should be connected in parallel with the battery. By default, the Solar charge comes set to a maximum charge current of 500mA with a maximum recommended input of 6V (minimum 4.4V). It's recommended that batteries not be charged at greater than their capacity rating.

I’ve used a few of these for development of a twin LiPo charge setup with a 6V panel that supplies 250mA, works great. Also tapped into a point on the circuit to charge via USB as well, all good. Not sure why someone else rated one star without explanation.

Dislike: the board is not reserse polarity protected and the jst connector was revered for the battery. This caused the battery to "smoke" the unit. Low current precludes you from supplying a load and charging a battery. You can do either, but not both. Solar cell charging may work in full sunlight. I never got it to workLike: Cheap, so no loss, until you can find or build a better unit.

This thing will use all of the power from the solar panel to light its "charging" LED before it puts a single drop of charge in the battery. Removing the LEDs made a night-and-day difference on my project with a 2W solar panel - went from barely powering the load at peak sun to charging the battery fully every day.Otherwise works great.

Build quality was alright, functions as needed for the most part, I thought this was a good value for the money spent, but the polarity was reversed so I had to reverse my wires for this item to work. Found out after I burned my hand.Small little board, charges alright, but such a mistake is potentially dangerous.

The adaptable output current based on available input current is great, they are well suited for solar battery charging. No complaints.
