We bought this self-tie tie in "black geometric," which is black and gray, just as shown in the image. Because it is silk, in person, it looks richer than imitation-silk ties. It appears that the 15% polyester is only in the lining.The tie has been a hit with everyone because the pattern is subtle and handsome at the same time. Because of the pattern and texture, it won't be mistaken for a tie that a waiter would wear, which can happen with plain black ties.The length is a boy's length (between 47" and 48"), which is important to know because many ties labeled "boys" on Amazon are men's lengths (~53"). It is thinner than a standard men's tie in 2024. So if you have a boy, or any person who is the size of an 8-12 year old boy, this is probably the right size. Only a small 13-14 year old could wear this tie without looking like it had shrunk in the wash. A tall or big-boned 11-12-year-old might require a men's tie, too.If you or another tie wearer is inexperienced in tying ties, and there isn't a long-term tie wearer in your household, there is a great youtube video featuring a blonde woman tying a reddish, thin tie that everyone, including me, seems to love because she gives the most easy-to-follow demonstration and description of tying a half-Windsor on yourself or someone else. The comments brag that people got it on the first try after watching! It worked perfectly on this tie, and I could first tie it on myself and transfer it to my kid, and then the kid learned to do it by watching the video, too.
