Here is the thing: honest to goodness high quality guitar nut files are an investment and I had no idea if I was going to show any proficiency making nut slot adjustments on an instrument. But I wanted to learn. So I bought a less expensive uke on amazon hoping it would benefit from such adjustments. I got the Hricane Cutaway Tenor Ukulele - and I got these file tip cleaners after finding some online suggestions that tip cleaners such as these might work as guitar nut files. When they came I tested them on a wooden pencil. though they didn’t seem to do much of anything with any speed, When I tried them on the uke after some ‘pencil practice’ amazingly enough, they worked great! These things made a positive impact filing into each string slot. To clarify, this was on a uke nut that was pre-slotted and just needed adjustment. This tool Allowed me to Deepen the slots to make the string action lower at the nut without making any of the slots too wide. While I’m learning how to do this stuff, these are doing what is needed, and are easy to control.

These torch tip cleaners look and feel just like the ones I use in my welding classes for the acetylene torches. The quality is decent, though they seem a bit bendy. I don’t think anyone should expect an extremely durable tip cleaner, but they get the job done and for that they get a 5/5 from me. They’re easy enough to use and they are worth the money imo.As a side note: I don’t see why people rate these low, I doubt anyone is going to get anything super strong when it comes to tip cleaners. Just don’t use these extremely rough and they’ll be fine.

Work great for getting a burr or finishing a string nut on your guitar so that you have the best tuning stability. These did the job perfectly and of course can be used over and over again. the different sizes are perfect for getting the slot just right in relation to the string thickness. This is my second set in 35 years.

This unit is as expected, not heavy duty, but sufficient to do the job at hand. Probably wouldn’t last long if used professionally but works for the occasional use and should last long enough to get crushed, or that’s what usually happens. I would buy it again if needed.

This type of tool was recommended on a video on how to fix/clean a non-functioning small engine carburetor. It works like a charm and it will have a great future when I require fine rigid variable gauge wire in other applications. Well made and designed.
