Someone in my neighborhood had their garage door opened and a bike stolen. Word got around the thief used the "six second garage door opener method" to gain access. Calked the local garage door company and they had something for $95. So I researched and found this item, it was cheap and looked effective, although there are some negative reviews on it not fitting.Well, it didn't fit my Liftmaster U channel at all. It twisted sideways and almost fell off. No problem, just figure it out.First I heated up the plastic U bracket on my stove (carefully) and bent it out a little so it would fit completely onto my U channel. Then I threw out the worthless plastic push pins and found some small carriage bolts. I mounted the shield as instructed but it still wasn't solid enough. Holding the shield parallel to the garage door I then drilled two 1/4" holes closer to the center of the shield and through the bracket (see photos) and threaded two 1" long carriage bolts through the bracket and shield. Tightened them down and voila! Perfect fit. Removed the outside bolts as unnecessary. The new bolts hold the shield and bracket tight against the U channel so there is no room to twist or slip.Don't forget to cut off the long handle cord so the shield covers the handle. I can reach it but if you're short you should have a plan for emergency door opening.Looking at the shield you could probably use a modified pie pan for the shield and make a bracket and save about $15 but then you wouldn't have the cool Garage Door Armor label! Good luck!

Great idea with one design defect. The material of the female thread is too weak to effectively tighten the shield and to prevent it slipping down. Even thread lok will not help.

Only fits openers with a flat-bar bracket. Chamberlain openers use a c-channel bracket and this will NOT fit these brackets. If the mount were metal, I might have re-formed it to fit. This is cheap injection molded plastic and cannot be re-shaped to fit. Returned for refund. After seeing what it would have looked like, if it had fit, I'm not sure it would help anyway. My cord was really short and it still hung lower than the shield. I just removed the emergency pull cord all together. If it truly is an emergency, go out the man-door. If I want to open the door manually, I'm tall enough to reach the release without the cord. If I were shorter, I could just get a stool. If you can reach high enough to grab something behind this shield, you can probably just release the lever without the pull-cord. I don't need the pull cord that bad, I would probably never use it anyway. This product attempts to address a critical security concern but it falls flat on delivery and fails completely for styles like mine.

First, I received the product in a half USPS envelope taped together with ripped up pieces of corrugagated cardboard. Very poorly wrapped for shipping. The plastic shield however is of good quality and will do it's job of preventing/stopping someone from fishing for the emergency release cord or hooking the emergency release mechanism of the garage door. The bracket that goes over the garage door arm to attach to the shield did not fit because the slot on the bracket was not wide enough. This issue would be easily fixed if the company could provide an option in the width of the slot in the bracket. At this point the whole kit was basically useless. You can overcome this issue if you don't mind using zip ties. I used 4 total and it held it in place. The garage door opens and closes with no problem. I would not recommend this product unless you are certain the bracket will fit or yours.

Should be bigger for better protection. This would be an easy DIY project without spending the money here.

Easy install, effective, just make sure that the arm connecting your garage door motor to the garage door is narrow, a quarter-inch, this it will fit well. Some other models won't easily fit, but just double check which openers it doesn't work with.
