These boots are toasty warm In the calf but my feet were cold, especially the sole when standing on the ground. They do appear to be waterproof and we’re comfortable to walk and ride in. I’m not sure they’d work for someone with wide calves, I’m to the end of the Velcro and am pretty average in size. Also, the Velcro straps come unthreaded every time you take them off which is inconvenient. Overall ok. I might try a thinsulate footbed and see if that works for warmth
