Ok, so lets get it out of the way first thing. Yes it looks somewhat vulgar. And, the way you use it, well, also may seem a little vulgar too. Ahem, now if we can muster up a little bit of maturity... :)So, this will change the way you eat hotdogs and sausages! For example, my wife likes to pile ON some hotdog toppings, especially wet ones. She also thinks she has to first spread open the bun to where it starts off juuuust barely still connected at the bottom. Introduce wet toppings, and if the bun does stay intact, it is just long enough for the first bite to end in the usual disaster. Then she is left in a mess to contemplate what went wrong.... AGAINThen we got this thing. GAME CHANGER!Now, there is a bit of a learning curve to use it. First, of course, you need a thicker bread, I have only used sub rolls from the deli. They also had hotdog buns which may work and will be a little less bread to eat. But those may or may not hold up to the 'drilling'. (Do not use regular or top split hotdog buns for this...)Second, I found that it is a good idea to cut about 2 inches off of one end of the sub roll. We were actually using J*hnsonvile pepperjack smoked sausages which ended up being way too short for the hole it makes. This is not a bad thing, because if you dont want an end of just sad dry bun, you can pile in more toppings first. As far as hollowing out the bread, it is pretty effortless. Just be sure to of course keep it aimed in the middle as you twist down. And the business end is not as long as the bun in most cases, so you just have to keep jammin it past the hilt. Just keep in mind where the sharp point is. It also will make some bread crumbs and dust so it is a good idea to do it over a trash can (or maybe otherwise repurpose them.)Also, if you are using a bigger link, you are going to want to hollow out more than just the initial girth of it. This is easy to do. Just 'scrape' out the bread from each side until the hole is good and wide. It is a good idea to make the hole bigger anyway, if you plan on a lot of toppings. As for the toppings, they can be a little tricky. You can pile them all in first, then they will mostly kind of 'squish' up around the weiner is it descends into the hole. Then you can pile more in around the nestled dog if needed. The first few will be trial and error, but dont worry they will still be delicious. And they will probably be much less messy to eat, which is the main goal.Great way to eat a weiner! :)

Do not buy this! The part that actually drills into the bun is only four inches long and a standard hot dog bun is only about six inches long, so you end up with two inches of hot dog hanging out of the bun.

Don't get me wrong. Like the tool. Just wish it was more of a coring utility. Instead it pushes the bread aside. Sometimes I want to fill the bread with cheese or chili before putting the hot dog in.

Seemed like a good idea, but then how do you add condiments to your hotdog???

Since most hot dog buns are already split, this thing isn't necessary. But it was super inexpensive and I had fun poking a hole in an un-split bread roll, squirting mustard, etc. into the hole, and sliding in a dogger. Super fun! But I've only used it one time because I still prefer to buy split hot dog buns.

Sure to be passed on year after year. First one has to find uncut hot dog buns, which I couldn't find in 4 different stores: Walmart, Amazon Fresh, HEB or Whole Foods. So I tried fresh baked hoagie type rolls and it didn't work well in that. I suspect the bread was too dense, because the Hotdogger didn't drill it out very well. The hole that was left wasn't big enough to insert a normal size hot dog.But it wasn't a complete waste. I gave it as a gag gift to the delight of the recipient who is sure to pass it on next year to some "lucky" soul.
