Hougen HMD130 Fabricator’s Kit Ultra Low Profile Lightweight Right Angle Drill with Large Capacity

It’s small enough to drill in places where even hand held electric drills can’t go, yet with the power to cut holes up to 1-3/8" diameter thru materials up to 1" thick. It has a rigid quill feed arbor, which prevents tool vibration, eliminates gibs, slide/way adjustments. Featuring Hougen's bayonet-style twist and lock cutter mounting system and a height of just 6-11/16”, the HMD130 Portable Magnetic Drill was designed for fast, efficient holemaking in confined spaces yet powerful enough for general steel fabrication. A powerful Hougen motor, heavy-duty, high-torque gearing along with the use of Hougen's RotaLoc Plus annular cutters combine to allow for a broad range of applications including general fabrication, truck frame modification, plant maintenance and on-site assembly and installation projects. For safety Hougen’s exclusive features to insure a safe work environment including a no-adjustment safety switch, which shuts down the drill motor if lift of the magnetic base is detected plus an LED indicator that monitors this sensor and alerts if the switch is not engaged. A two stage power-on switch prevents drill rotation unless the magnet has first been engaged, and, in the case of a power interruption. Made in the USA.

Great small magnetic drill, used it to drill out hanger holes on a heavy double frame and worked excellent , light weight unlike most heavy and bulky mag drills, very pleased with the purchase !

I love this mag drill. I have used many hougen drills in my time and they all are good units.This hmd130 is the first I actually had to pay for and call my own. I thought that it would be more universal than a taller unit, so it would give me the most bang for the buck. That was incorrect… I find myself drilling through 1”+ more often than not while having plenty of room. Additionally, the twist lock cutters are impossible to find around my area (I live in a place with dozens of welding supply/steel/real hardware stores).I needed to make some brackets for a 1.75” pin hole. If I were to have purchased the larger hougen unit, I would have saved some cash compared to having them cut out on a plasma table.This little guy is awesome for what it is, but if you only want to buy one.. I would stick with the larger units.

I love that it’s compact and works well. I drilled over 30 holes in a short time on a truck frame I’m very pleased with this drill.

I actually worked for Hougen Manufacturing in Swartz Creek, Michigan for 6 or 7 years in the machining department. Mostly milling out the magnets and aluminum housings. Yes their drills/annular cutters are expensive, but they live up to the timeliness adage “you get what you pay for”.Every aspect of their drills and cutters are better refined than their competitors. The geometry on their annular cutters is patented and absolutely cut better than any other.Buy Hougen if you need it to last. Their drills are an investment.Cheers

works amazing i have like patients when drilling big holes with a normal drill. but using one of these I can drill all day. The only thing I wish is the magnet was a little bit stronger on thick thick powder coating and thinner metal
