Buying a used calculator is always a risk. That said, the calculator arrived in excellent condition including the original box, user manuals, soft-cover and fully functional.Being a long-time user of HP scientific calculators (HP 11C, HP 35S, HP 42S) I wanted to add a graphing calculator to my collection. In the 30 years since its release technology has made great strides and pocket calculators are not anymore used as they were for complex calculations by professionals. Today's models are entirely geared towards the educational market and that shows. High quality printed manuals, double shot injection molded keys with good amount of travel, software which allows a high degree of customization (all keys can be user assigned), seamlessly integrated handling of units and complex numbers, a matrix editor, flexible solvers, high quality numeric algorithms etc... are all part of the reasons why the HP 48G was so highly regarded. From today's point of view the slower execution speed, memory constraints (32KB) and limited display contrast are what is most obvious compared to contemporaries (HP Prime).Still, the quality and sheer power of functionality amazes even today and seeing the asking prices going up every year I'm sure I made a good choice.

Seemed to work fine for the first ten months, only light use a few times a week then screen flashed and went blank. Obviously, a refurbished machine but you would expect it to last longer than 10 months. I have had several of these units over the years and this one was junk.

The used HP48 calculator i purchased was described as "Like new" and it is in very good condition with one complaint. The on/off button is not responsive. I have to press the on/off button multiple times, sometimes taking almost a 60 seconds to turn the calculator on. All other buttons and functions appear to work very well. I would be highly satisfied if only the on/off switch worked as well as the others.

I can see why so many people think this was HP's last good calculator. It's easier to understand than the HP 50g. But that could be because it doesn't have as many functions (coming out a decade earlier). The one I acquired was cheap and almost perfect. With the exception of a slightly loose keyboard. Not enough to be a problem, or to try to fix it. The 48G (or it's brother, the 48GX) may have been the best during it's era.

Unit arrived quickly and in excellent condition. I recommend this vendor highly. HP doesn't make anything like this anymore, and I've had HP45 and HP48 calculators since the 80's. I love the quick conversion functions and the way the buttons feel. I'm glad they had this to replace my last one that I accidentally destroyed.

I am an original 1991 owner of an HP 48SX. This 48G is just as good. I love the look and feel of these calculators. Nothing will ever come close to these calculators. Buy them now before they are all gone. These are limited edition. I can see them going for $thousands in the future. Nothing will ever have the look and feel of these calculators again. The new calculators these days are horrible. Once you go RPN, you never go back.

My unit did not function when it arrived, ON/OFF button faulty. Freight back to Amazon in U.S. exceeds the value of the purchase which makes this money down the drain.
