You get what you pay for, I guess. I expected that they’d be on the flimsier side, but two out of the five traps I ordered showed up with reels that were already broken beyond use. The ones I was able to fish with are fine so far. Would recommend investing in some reel wraps for your hooks with these though - they don’t pack up great at the end of the day.

These are solid tip-ups; plain and simple. You could certainly go out and spend more to get something better (wooden base, metal spool, insulated cover), but for $15 this is as good as it gets. The flag locks into place pretty good and won’t give you false alarm if the wind blows too strong. The spool is also well designed and never gave me any trouble as far as knots or tangled line. We used these in northern Wisconsin with 30+ inches of ice and temperatures reaching zero (Fahrenheit) and below. Even with our holes constantly freezing over these still operated pretty good in those harsh conditions. We even got a decent 24†pike on one of them. If you’re an ice fishing guide who does this for a living then I’d recommend spending more money on upgrades tip-ups. But for the rest of us who go out a few times a year these are perfect.

I got these because I needed ice fishing stuff in sort of a hurry. I got them for my boyfriend I had no idea what I was looking for and these seemed to be a decent price for what I needed. (They are not the top of the line so don't expect them to be, but they do what they need to.) and it turns out I did a great job, he loved them and that weekend we took them out and tried them. We went with a pro ice fisher and he said these were really good, ours were the only ones catching fish (pike and perch). Everyone was impressed on how well we were doing and my boyfriend really wants more. Can't wait to go out again and get more fish!

Like how the 'T' spins when in play - nice to gauge a run without having to lift entire spool out of the water .

I picked up 3 of these tip up's my first year ice fishing caught a lot of good size pike with them they work well and price is good also keeps me warm in ice fishing tent while tip up's are out in the cold ;)

Used these tip ups for a while now. Great for light fishing for trout. They don't hold a lot of line, so they are not recommended for larger game fish or deep waters.
