Does just what it says. I was struggling to fit my dimmer switch in a box which had some other wires and pigtails in it. I spent 20 minutes trying to rearrange and pack wires, with no success. Then I ordered this extender. Everything fit easily and I had it installed within 3 minutes. I only wish I had found this sooner.

It worked for me just fine, but the gasket that came with extension was not helpful. It was designed for a flat surface. My application involved a stone wall... a generally rough, uneven surface. No big deal though. I threw away the gasket and used more silicone sealer. Looks good.

I was unable to fit the pigtail with wire nuts plus a gfci into the bell outdoor boxes I was installing. After a long frustrating afternoon of trying to get it to all fit I gave in and found this product. It was perfect!Well made out of aluminum just like the boxes. Comes with 4 screw and a gasket. Although I did put silicone around the edges during and after install because those gaskets are iffy and also deteriorate over time. Super useful product.

I needed to extend an outdoor outlet box after new siding was installed. This did the trick. Fit over the existing box perfectly. I also had to install a new outlet, as hornets had managed to build a nest inside the box, and shorted out the old one. I installed a weatherproof cover on this extension, which also fit perfectly, and sealed all around with caulking. It's been a year, no sign of the bees returning, and the outlet remains usable.

I needed to replace two volume control knobs but found my boxes weren’t not deep enough for any of the ones currently on the market. Luckily, I found this extender (which isn’t available at any local hardware stores) and I was able to use ANY volume control knob on Amazon! I’d recommend using some clear silicone to guarantee a true water tight seal as the gasket is very flexible and is hard to place for such application.

Very expensive especially when you consider the one gang die-cast aluminum grey outlet box only cost $12.50 CDN at HD but most likely required if you plan to use the rear hub for your wire enter and you wish to mount a GFCI. It would be nice if the manufacture would simply make a deeper box, but that's not going to happen.
