These work just fine, but don't expect "heavy duty", more of a "medium duty". I weighed (empty w/lid) a standard 1-gallon milk jug and the Hudson square 1-gallon to compare material differences - standard jug weighed about 2.3 ounces, Hudson 4.4 ounces. So the Hudsons are substantially thicker, but they likely wouldn't survive a drop from modest height when full. Quite expensive for what they are, but I didn't need many, so no big deal. F217 caps are a nice touch.
