This "handbell" bracelet has fifteen dried nutshells strung around the outside of the band. There are two elastic bands that allow the bracelet to fit a variety of wrist sizes.The bracelet makes the characteristic sound when the shells collide with one another.In addition to making a unique percussion sound, it is trimmed in beads using traditional African colors.

I was disappointed in these. Everything looks like it's made of cheap shiny plastic to me, even the 'shells' which apparently were sawn in half crosswise and glued back together - the seams are clearly visible. The sound is disappointing - very soft - if you want to use these to add a rattle sound to your djembe playing you won't be able to hear these over the drum. On the plus side it did stretch enough to fit over my big wrist and ankles OK without breaking. But do yourself a favor and look for genuine fair trade nut bracelets made in Africa - they're the real deal, they'll sound better and the African artisans who make them will appreciate it.
