Excellent quality sound, and well made for the price. I used these pups to convert a dull sounding Epi EB0 short scale bass to a fully functional Epi EB3 short scale bass. The neck pup placement is as the original and the (new) bridge pup was positioned exactly the distance from the bridge as on my EB3 long scale but + 1/2 inch closer to the neck pup. Yes, full EB3 style controls were carved into the EB0 bass body to eventually arrive at an EB0 converted EB3 short scale. I have tested sound using 3 different amps: TC Electronics, Hartke, and SWR, The cab stack is a MarkBass 104. In all instances the bass sound and control is amazing. Flat wounds are used. The sound is different between the EB3 L and EB3 S, with the EB3 S having more of a seemingly bassier thud thud to it. Ohms measured 12 on each pup. The conversion provides a bass sound similar to Free (Can't Get Enough of Your Love) to Aerosmith (Sweet Emotions).Why do it. I am developing arthritis and I have smallish hands. I love my EB3 L, now I have an equally sounding if not better on occasion EB3 S. Problem solved.

These are good pickups at a good price. I've used them in two vintage basses that needed pickups. They look great in vintage basses and sound good. A great value.
