The price was right on point, it doubles as a safety harness and deer drag. The harness is basic, but has padding where you need it and nice quick detach buckles across your abdomen, and your thighs. Easy to put on and climb up safely to your tree stand. It comes with a safety manual and instructional DVD so if you have any questions or concerns it should be covered. I am 5'9'' 180 lbs with a small gut, I purchased the Small/ Medium and fully extended it fits great with layered clothing. If you plan on hunting with large bulky or prefer the extra room then I highly suggest you go ahead and get the large. I am overall happy with this purchase, It gets the job done at the right price.Pros: 1. Nice quick detach buckles 2. light and padded 3. Great price 4. Instructional DVD and manual 5. Dual purpose Tree stand safety harness/ deer dragCons: 1. Can use some padding around the thigh and crotch. 2. Gets in the way of being able to access my pockets

Couldn't find my harness so I had to go and get a new one. This one is a bit heavier than the one I had and very similar in terms of the buckles.Overall its a great harness. The padding is soft and makes it completely comfortable. It also is super easy to put on - just jump in with two legs and good to go. The notable feature is the deer drag attachment and the secondary line that is where your tail bone is located. so this allows you to use your whole body to drag the deer.the buckles are indeed great - quiet, easy to clip on and they really minimize the noise and time to get it set right.*sizing*I'm 5'10 and a fit 180 pounds - wait is 34/32 and chest around 39/40. The wait is fine (one person commented it seemed about a 36 waist which seems about right. Length wise no problem. Waist wise no problem. the only issue I found is the chest. It is just right with just a shirt but i probably couldn't put it over a heavy coat. so that is an issue. I'd say that it's maybe a size 40 chest. So S/M is tight if you're 36 waist ad above or size 40 and above chest. I'd suggest that size 38 if you want a coat is probably max.

Been using this for a month now and have not had to use it for life safety, but used it enough to review it.First off, this harness is a tad bit on the heavy side compared to the included fall harnesses that came with my various stands. The reason for this seems mainly to be the sturdy rubber coated steel buckles, which are the same reason that I like this harness so much better than the cheap ones that are included. I don't have to step through any loops or adjust anything. Once it is adjusted initially for your body, you're done. Put it on like a vest, clip the chest together, then snap each leg strap on like a seat belt and you're ready to climb. It's very comfortable to wear all day once it's on, in fact I routinely forget I'm wearing it and forget to take it off at the truck. The instructions tell you to test it by hanging from it. I tried that, and the safety fall arrest system was making some ominous sounds and I was afraid it would tear so I aborted the test. I want to save the fall arrest stitches for when I really need them, though I hope I never do.I love the convenient lineman loops on each side. They make installing steps and hanging stands a snap and they don't seem to get in the way the rest of the time. I use a rope style tree strap with prusik as a lineman rope and it works wonderfully. I've had my full weight supported by the strap and linemans loops many times, and in fact I also climb trees with climbing spurs and I no longer use my old linemans belt as I prefer this harness.Aside from the weight the biggest drawback is the noise. Whatever the shoulder pads are made out of makes a rustle when I move in the stand. It's louder than the bare webbing of cheaper harnesses, but also more comfortable. I've not used anything more expensive than this to compare that aspect to. I usually wear it under a fleece or hooded sweatshirt or jacket depending on temperature, and once something is over it it's silent so the noise is only an issue for warm hunts. That's the main reason I took off one star, it seems like they could make the shoulder pads out of a quieter material without much difference in cost.I'm 5'11" and 210, and there is a lot of adjustability in both directions.I keep mine on a hanger in the back of my truck with the buckles latched when I'm not hunting, which keeps it from getting tangled and makes it very quick to put back on. I left it in a heap once and it took a few minutes to get it untangled so I figured out not to do that!I also really like the drag loop on the back of the waist. Haven't used it to drag a deer but it will pull a sled of equipment or other stuff pretty well. For the low price compared to all the other decent harnesses, and the hunter safety brand name this harness is a great deal. For the price and ease of use, there is absolutely no excuse not to use one anymore. I'd buy this one again in a heartbeat and I recommend it to my friends.

5'-7" 165 LB and the SM/M fits perfect. Very comfortable and easy to adjust. I can have this thing on all day with no problem. My one complaint about it is that the leg buckles do clink and clack when walking even after they are buckled together. So if you are trying to sneak in to your stand I would suggest walking VERY softly or finding a way to tape them so they don't make noise. The noise is not enough for me to return the harness but it is something people should be aware of. Also the leg buckles are exposed when sitting so if you keep your bow in your lap or you rattling antlers in your lap you may accidentally hit the buckle creating a little noise. It has not been an issue for me put I guess it could be a possibility but a slim one. Other than that the harness is great. Very affordable, comfortable and well made. It should last for many years to come.

I had an older system that did not have any buckles for the legs. It was very difficult to put on and I ended up rarely using it. I will be starting my son soon and I wanted to set a good example. I was not expecting much with the price, but I am very impressed. The buckles that come with it are durable and are easy to use. The vest is easy to put on and very comfortable. I am truly impressed. I know there is higher priced systems out there but this does everything I need to be safe and will be no problem wearing. Very comfortable and light. Great buy! Just a update. I have hunted with others that have a higher price system and they are very impressed with mine. They are really impressed with the price. My vest worked out great through the hunting season and I will not switch. I will be looking at getting my son started soon and I will stick with this company. Great product at a great price!

After a full season of use, I am happy to report that the Hunter Safety System X-1 is just about perfect. It's reasonably comfortable and simple to use.Fortunately, I've never slipped and fallen out of a tree stand, but I'll never go up into a tree without one of these again.
