Installation took an hour granted it would’ve probably taken half that time normally but I was watching a show at the same time but at least it was easy and don’t require more than 1 person😂 Comes with a detailed manual & all the pieces you need plus extras if you need them in the future. Oh there’s even a YouTube installation video but of course I didn’t realize that until I was done it’s on the very front of the manual you just type in the link verbatim it’s case sensitive so make sure it’s exactly the same & it’ll take to straight to the vid. Oh if you’re petite it’s quite tall I’m 4’9 and my feet don’t touch the ground but I don’t mind cause I like swinging my feet plus the cushion is so nice & thick. Pictures shown are this chair (left) compared with the cushion size and height at the lowest setting. This is a huge upgrade super happy I finally got a nice chair for my new wfh job!

I was replacing one that was used and given to me as a hand-me-down, but the height kept going down while I was sitting on it, which made it difficult to focus on my work.I couldn't find one the same seat height, which was disappointing, but I'm not mad at the choice I made.It was simple to put together - did it myself in less than an hour.I love that the seat portion of the chair "leans back" instead of forward. It allows me to reduce the pressure on my spine as I have sciatic issues (whole lumbar is compressed).I am "wide in the seat" and it is big enough for my wide load.I love that the arms can go up as I often need to dangle my arms from typing too much.I'd highly recommend this chair.Update: the fabric is kind of harsh on direct skin contact (like wearing shorts), but putting a cover over the fabric works, or wearing long(er) bottoms.

I bought this chair in Mar 2024. Almost one year later finally unboxed it and put it together. Took a little over 1 hour because I dawdled. The instructions are easy enough but the written instructions say use 2 Cs and 2 Hs for the plate, the video says 4 Cs (there were 7Cs, 4 already used on the arms so 3 left). The instructions were accurate. The seat seems cushy but the underneath looks unfinished with fabric and exposed staples. The foot support ring looks like it would not stay in place as it's just a spongy material holding it in place. I thought there would be grooves. The chair seat tilt a little to the back (saw other reviews that said it leans forward). The chair is pretty tall at the lowest position, so now I am about 2 inches higher than my std desk, but I do have a standing desk waiting to be set up. The seat feels comfortable and sturdy but wouldn't know until I use it for a while.

UPDATED REVIEW # 2 (December 18, 2023):Well, after an initial 5-star rating and a subsequent drop to 4 stars after the gas cylinder started to fail, I'm raising my rating of the Hylone High-Back Mesh Ergonomic Drafting Chair BACK to 5 full stars. Here's why ...After months of dealing with a failing gas cylinder that caused my chair to slowly sink or suddenly drop without warning, it finally got so bad last month that I had to decide whether to a.) live with the chair permanently in the "down" position, b.) buy an aftermarket brace that would permanently lock it in the "up" position, c.) replace the cylinder, or d.) buy a new chair. Options A and B were nonstarters because I need the chair to be able to go up and down to accommodate work surfaces at various heights. Replacing the cylinder felt like the simplest and most economical solution, so I contacted the manufacturer to confirm the size and type of cylinder I needed. To my amazement, they not only responded quickly (within a day), but instead of providing me with information about the type of replacement to buy, they simply offered to send me a replacement cylinder free of charge. Apparently I've grown jaded and cynical in my old age (42), because I just assumed that after nearly 3 years, no manufacturer would take ownership of a defective component. I am so happy to be wrong. In fact, the whole experience has restored some of my faith in humanity (not all of it, but some of it). And after installing the new replacement cylinder, my chair works like a dream again. It was like meeting up with an old friend you haven't seen in years. Ahhh....That said, removing the old cylinder was a whole saga unto itself, and I have the bruises to prove it. However, despite the interminable and epically frustrating cylinder-ectomy procedure, I will say that the effort was ultimately entirely worth it. It just required a lot of patience, a lot of loud metal-on-metal pounding with a hammer, and about a gallon of WD-40.Based on my unexpectedly incredible experience with Hylone customer service, I can say that when I'm finally ready to upgrade to a new model, I will definitely be looking to Hylone. It's a breath of fresh air to encounter a brand that stands behind their products, especially when they haven't even been asked to do so. Not only did they offer to send me the replacement free of charge, but an actual human being followed up with me a few days after the new cylinder was delivered to make sure that I'd received it, that the installation process went OK, and that the replacement solved the problem. Like, what other company does that anymore? If I could, I'd give them 6 stars!UPDATED REVIEW # 1 (November 22, 2023):After 2½ years of use, I still LIKE this chair, but I'm not loving it nearly as much. I'm removing a star because for the last year or so, the gas lift has only "lifted" when it's apparently in the mood to cooperate. While it still goes up and down as it should when I lift the lever on the underside of the chair, it rarely stays *up* anymore. I'll be sitting in the chair doing work, when all of a sudden, it'll drop like a broken elevator, giving me a small heart attack. Other times it will slowly lose height until I'm reaching UP to the surface of my desk to type, like a toddler trying to reach the cookie jar on top of the fridge. For the record, I'm 165 lbs. and have not gained any weight since my purchase, so it hasn't been under any extra strain lately. I only mention this because that's the first question my father asked when I called him to see if he had any "Dad fixes" for a sinking office chair. "Well, have you gained any weight, son?" *face palm*I suppose that one can purchase replacement gas cylinders, but it seems like an unnecessary expense and a lot of hassle for a chair that's not that old. Since the chair moves up and down much farther than most other office chairs, I don't even know if a standard cylinder replacement would work on this one without having to sacrifice several inches of height – so that'll definitely require research. I also know that there are aftermarket devices that one could buy that lock a sinking chair in the UP position, but that's not really an option for me, because I need to have the ability to move the chair back down again, depending on the type of work I'm doing. So, there are no easy solutions. Is this a deal-breaker? No. At the end of the day, is it just a petty annoyance? Probably. There are more pressing issues in the world at the moment than my sinking chair. And I will be keeping it, because there's a lot to like about it, aside from its inability to rise to the occasion when I need it to. But it is disappointing – and something to consider for anyone looking to purchase this chair.ORIGINAL REVIEW (March 7, 2021):I was hesitant to buy this chair at first, but what a great purchase. The foot rest alone was worth it. The height is perfect. It looks sharp. And I love the fact that the arms fold up and down. There are only two things that could make this chair better in my opinion:1. The assembly could be a little easier. It's not difficult to put together, per se, but the instructions aren't quite explicit enough. I put a couple pieces on backwards at first because the technical drawings were a little hard to interpret and the pieces weren't labeled. Easy enough to figure out, but required a little more time (about 45 mins) and patience than I'd anticipated.2.. The casters are a little stiff, so it doesn't glide as easily as I'd like on plush pile carpet. It rolls, but it requires some real effort. Those minor issues aside, I'm really happy with the purchase. I haven't enjoyed sitting at my desk this much in ages.

It's very comfortable, easy to adjust the height and foot rest, and the arms fold up out of the way. For the price I thought this was a decent deal. About the same cost/quality as the run-of-the-mill office chair from Staples/Amazon/etc. I've been through several other stools for my studio. But they've never been comfortable for sitting at the mixer for any length of time. I can actually sit back and enjoy the process now! Highly recommend for light to medium use in a non-commercial setting. Not sure it would hold up for 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week. Maybe it would? But that's not how I'm using it.
