The last time I got the tires balanced and rotated the tire shop did their inspection of the tires and told me I had a couple tires at 3/32" and the other two at 4/32". They made it sound dire but I didn't think they were that bad. I tried the penny and the quarter measure of the tire tread and wasn't sure of my results, so I bought these. Very easy to use and see the correct reading. Turns out two of my tires were 6/32" (measured in numerous spots) and the other two were 8/32" which is exactly half of what I was told. A very helpful tool.

Not a lot of bells and whistles to be had with a tire tread depth guage, but they do what they were designed to do.

Have you ever gone to the dealership and been told you need tires, but weren't sure if you really did? Take s just a moment to go around the car and see how much tread you have over the minimum 2/32 of an inch.
