Disconnecting A Joint

By applying pressure to the release collar with the CRQ02 removal tool, the grab ring teeth are splayed. This action releases the pipe, allowing it to be removed from the fitting.

  1. Placet the CRQ02 removal tool around the pipe with the non-marking face against the release collar. The end with the size displayed on the removal tool should be positioned around the pipe and the other end around the neck of the fitting.
  2. Push the removal tool against the release collar and pull the pipe with a twisting action to release the pipe.
  3. Check the fitting and pipe end for damage. The fitting and pipe shoud be free of damage, foreign objects and marks on the outside diameter.

Works nicely with various Shark bite and generic similar fittings. Makes it much easier to salvage fittings and minimize damage to copper or PEX tubing.

If you have ever struggled to get a shark bite connector off a pipe, this is for you. For years I have fought to get those things loose or out of a tight place. If you’re really strong and have good lower arm strength and hands it’s not too hard. If you’re older, or skinny like me it’s a different story. Those cheap “U” shaped tools are extremely difficult to squeeze hard enough to disengage the stainless steel teeth holding it tight. This tool is different, it has a compound leaver action that multiplies your strength and makes it easy to remove them. A few minutes after I opened the package I had removed enough of them to save two and a half times what they cost. Some of them had been stuck on pipes for years and as much as they cost now there was no way I was going to throw them away. If there is anything at all I would suggest to improve them it would be to make the forks that clamp around the pipe just a little thicker so it wouldn’t give over time, but I guess the manufacturer knew what they were doing because as far as I can tell all the pressure I have put on it hasn’t affected it at all. I rarely say this but if you need this tool, get it, you won’t be disappointed.

May be adequate for couplers and valve units, but does not work well on T fittings.

I have about twenty fitting that I needed to get off of old plumbing to use as spares in case I needed them but I didn't feel like fighting with them.I had allllll of my fittings removed in less than 5 minutes with this. Absolutely worth the money. They WILL slip if you're being clumzy, but if you take your time? The tool works PERFECT.Used for 3/4 and half inche sharkbites in copper AND cpvc AND pex. Worked to remove from all three painlessly.
